I’m not fond of cheap shampoos because most leave my hair a tangled mess so I’m not quite sure how I ended up with this. It was probably while shopping in the grocery store one day and being in a hurry. Not to mention that this brand is often on sale that was probably a good selling point. They have redesigned the bottle since I purchased this shampoo, but it’s not my favorite so it had sat under my sink for awhile before it got pulled out again during one of my cleaning spree’s.
White Rain has eleven scents available and is formulated for all hair types. My 15 oz. bottle was plastic with a blue flip top cap and provided me with 33% more free product. Since the bottle has been designed (old bottle pictured above), the top is now a flip open cap instead. I personally preferred the older bottle because it has indentations on the side, allowing for better grip in the shower. This particular formula contains Orange Fruit Extracts & Provitamin B5. The citrus fragrance is supposed to be botanically based, with a combination of fruit and flower extracts.

This shampoo is like any other and is very easy to use. You simply wet your hair and work the shampoo into a lather on your hair and rinsing thoroughly afterwards. For those that like lather, it provides good lather when rubbed onto the head. The shampoo does rinse thoroughly and leaves my hair clean enough, but I’m just not satisfied with the smoothness and inability to comb through afterwards without some kind of untangling or conditioning spray.
One thing I will give credit to White Rain for is the scent. The citrus scent does smell fresh and opens your senses. It’s refreshing in the morning to help awaken the brain. The scent is fresh without being to overpowering. I’m not quite sure what the difference was between this citrus shampoo and the classics shampoo that I have used previously, but my hair just didn’t like this. I only using conditioner every other wash because it weighs down my hair to much, but I found myself needing to use conditioner every time with this shampoo. This was disappointing to me because instead of saving a little money on the cheaper shampoo, I find myself purchasing conditioner more often so it didn’t really save me anything.
You can purchase this shampoo at most mass merchandisers, drugstores, grocery stores, dollar stores, and online. I bought this bottle for around $.89 on sale, but there are also larger family sizes available, priced at around $2.
White Rain has been around for years and offers a full line of hair care products at an affordable price. While I don’t recommend this shampoo for those that have a wavy hair type like I do (because of the tangle issue’s), I probably would suggest it for those that have straight hair. My mother has used this previously and has not had any problems.
