Pros:Well built. Great features. Works wonderfully.
The Bottom Line: You will need to look hard to find a better sprayer for the money ($29.99). I got everything that I wanted in this sprayer and more for my uses.
For many years, I have struggled with several different brands of Tank Sprayers. With my home uses of spraying weeds, pests and so on combined with the need for a good tank sprayer for taking care of weeds on our lawn mowing jobs, owning a good sprayer is an essential thing. At the beginning of this year, my last sprayer quit working and I sent my wife to the hardware store to get another. She came home with a $20 Spectracide sprayer that looked fine for our use. This sprayer worked fine for 2 uses and then promptly broke. The pump would no longer pressurize the tank. To say that I was upset was an understatement. In a blind rage and in need of a tank sprayer, I decided to buy the best tank sprayer that I could find for under $50. For my budget the more expensive metal tank sprayers were out of the question, so I first turned to Epinions to read reviews on any tank sprayer that I could find. I ran across an old friend (golferinfr), who did a review on the Gilmour 2-Gallon Premium Tank Sprayer. For the money this seemed like a wonderful match with all of the added features.

All tank sprayers are not created equal.
This sprayer is made of heavy polyethylene and has a capacity of 2 ½ gallons with an operating capacity of 2 gallons of liquid. One of the most important features on this sprayer is the pressure relief valve. This valve is either manual or automatic, but more on that later. The pump which screws into the top of the tank is made of polymer and pressurizes the tank very quickly. There is an extra handle on the top of the sprayer so that you do not need to carry the sprayer by the pump handle. This extra handle saves wear and tear on the pump handle and other parts. The sprayer hose is 52 long and is made of heavy PVC hose. At the end of the hose is an 18 brass wand that has an adjustable nozzle on it for different spraying patterns. Between the hose and the wand is a handle that fits nicely in your hand which when push down will release the spray from the tank. This handle is made of polymer. All parts are for the most part chemical resistant and replaceable. This sprayer comes with a lifetime replacement warranty.
Why I like tank sprayers and especially this one.
I know that many people buy premixed weed and pest killers for the home use. I have tried these premixed and found the mixing my own solutions makes for better results. Products such as Roundup and Spectracide concentrates actually tell you in the mixing instructions that for better results add up to double of the concentrate to the same amount of water. I have had much better and long-lasting results by mixing my own sprays.
As for this sprayer, the pressure relief valve is an absolute must on any tank sprayer that I would buy in the future. It not only allows you to release the pressure inside of the tank without opening the container, but it also insures that if you would forget to do so there is an automatic release for the inside pressure buildup. This feature combined with the carrying handle should insure that this sprayer will last a long time. Also the ability to order new parts from the website and the lifetime warranty make this sprayer a good buy. I also found the trigger area to be comfortable and the lock on feature makes it great for constant spraying of large areas. The hose and wand are long enough to reach completely to the ground for close up spraying without bending and the nozzle adjusts very easily for different spraying patterns and concentrations. I have truly found no faults so far with this sprayer.
All in all: You could buy a more expensive metal tank sprayer, but why? This sprayer for about $10 more than the Spectracide sprayer has more features and is built much better. As for metal sprayers, I highly doubt that you would get any better wear out of one of them as compared to this sprayer. I truly think that I bought the best sprayer for the money and one that will last a long time.
Thanks for checking out my reviews.
