Home renovation is over rated. I'm ready to call it quits and be happy with what I've accomplished. Should the "home renovation" bug bite again, I'm going to hire someone to flex their muscles while I watch. I've concluded I don't like to work (hard). Work is another thing over rated and I wholeheartedly advise against it.
Decorating a room is beyond my skills (it really is) so I took the advice of my youngest daughter and bought the full size, machine washable, puff-top Gina bedding from the JCPenny Home Collection for $130 (on sale from $200). She told me the cotton print matched the sand color I'd painted my bedroom. My first choice had been an olive green comforter set and I'll admit it didn't look as good as the Gina Puff Comforter Set.
WHAT CAME IN THE COLLECTION: A full size, 80x90 comforter in green's, pink's, blue's and ivory along with 2 standard pillow shams and one ruffled 15" drop skirt. I opted to buy matching lined curtains, valances and one oblong throw pillow. The set is polyester fill, cotton, washable, and imported (made in China).
When my order arrived, I was quite pleased. I washed and pressed the curtains, hung them and proceeded to unpack the comforter and put it on my bed. The skirt was a little more difficult to put on due to the weight of the mattress. My daughter was right. Everything came together as she predicted and even a decorating challenged person as myself could see the improvement.
I've never had a puff-top comforter before and wasn't sure how I was going to like it or even how it was going to hold up. Some people remove their comforter before going to bed. I don't. The quality and comfort is better than anticipated. Due to the thickness, it has to be washed and dried at the laundromat. The curtain's and skirt can be washed and dried at home. Depending on your taste, you can press or hang after drying. After washing, I chose to press mine.
The material is cotton and easy to care for. The polyester inside the puff stays puffed after drying. I'm not sure if this will remain true after several washings. There is one negative which is troublesome. I find the comforter rather bulky when making my bed every morning. After stripping the bedding off, and proceeding to remake it, the comforter is awkward throwing across the bed.
OVERALL, I'm quite happy with my daughter's choice and will definitely consider the puff comforter's in the future. The Gina collection is a good choice and one I highly recommend.
