Pros: These vitamins absolutely have it all!
Cons: There is one caveat. . . see review
Don't you hate it when there is the inevitable "but"?
Anyway, my mother and I disagree on the importance of vitamins. She feels they are totally unnecessary, and she rarely takes any type of medication/vitamin at all. Sure, if I was confident that my diet was perfect/near perfect, perhaps I wouldn't require vitamins, but as that isn't the situation, and probably never will be, I choose to take an excellent multi-vitamin. I've tried many over the years, and one of my last selections was the GNC Women's Ultra Mega Timed Release tablets. I happened upon the GNC store in a mall near my office, and the Womens Ultra Mega Vitamins caught my eye. I was very impressed with the humongous amount of vitamins and minerals included (noted below-ingredients/vitamins/minerals listed from the box & drugstore.com).
What is not included in these vitamins per GNC
No Artificial Colors, No Artificial Flavors, No Preservatives, Sodium Free, No Wheat, No Gluten, No Soy, No Dairy, Yeast Free
These vitamins are made in the USA.
The vitamins are tucked away in a purple and rose colored box. There are 90 tablets, and the serving size is two tablets.
Included vitamins directly from the box:
Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Vitamin K, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin (B3), Vitamin B6, Folate,Folic Acid,Folacin, Vitamin B12, Biotin, Pantothenic acid, Calcium, Iron, Iodine, Magnesium, Zinc, Selenium, Copper, Manganese, Chromium, Molybdenum, Antioxidant Fruit and Vegetable Blend, Alpha-Lipoic Acid, Choline, Green Tea Leaf Extract, Cranberry Concentrate, Inositol Silica, Boron, Lycopene, Lutein, Zeaxanthin Astaxanthin Haematococcus Pluvialis Vanadium
Their directions are to take two of the tablets along with food, as a supplement. I was advised by the store employee to take one in the morning, and one in the evening with food.
They advise you to store in a dry cool spot.
Cellulose, Titanium Dioxide (Natural Mineral Whitener), Vegetable Acetoglycerides, Chlorophyll, Cryptoxanthin
They warn you to keep out of the reach of your children.
Their additional warning:
Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6. Keep this product out of reach of children. In case of accidental overdose, call a doctor or poison control center immediately.
"Use any GNC supplement for as little as 10 days. If you are not 100% completely satisfied, return the unused portion of the product with proof of purchase to your GNC store for a complete refund of your purchase price. No questions asked!"
As mentioned previously, I don't think I have ever been as impressed with the vitamins, minerals included in a multi-vitamin as I am with the GNC Women's Ultra Mega vitamins. I was anxious to begin taking them as I knew they were going to turn me into Super Wench! At the least I knew they would provide me with anything I could possibly require, and perhaps the end result would be more energy, less fatigue, and optimal health. I was particularly impressed that they contain 500 mg of calcium, 80 mg of B vitamins, and additionally have lutein and lycopene. However, when I saw the size of these vitamins,my mouth dropped open. These are "horse" pills. They are huge and awkward to swallow (for me anyway). To punish myself by getting two of these vitamins down my throat daily was more than I wished to deal with on an ongoing basis. I did complete the bottle of vitamins. I took one in the morning with food, and one in the evening with dinner as advised by the GNC employee. After a couple of weeks I did feel really good. Some people have problems swallowing pills, and I am not one of them, but I have my limits. These vitamins are just too big for me, and I did not buy them a second time after running out.
Final thoughts and recommendations:
These vitamins are fantastic, and I highly recommend them for any woman who is not put off by horse-sized pills. I am giving them 4 stars. If they could somehow make them smaller/easier to digest they would be more than worthy of 5 stars!
