jiastar's Full Review: Gold Bond Maximum Strength Foot Spray, Triple Acti...
Foot odor is caused by naturally occurring bacteria thriving in a dark moist environment. We've all experienced it at one time or another. The women in our home, me included, tend to suffer from one degree or another from it. The most common culprit seems to be that we all prefer to wear sneakers without socks.
I have tried several products to assist us and by far the most effective has been Gold Bond Medicated Foot Spray. It claims "triple action relief" and claims to:
Be aware that this product uses isobutane and propane as propellants and is therefore highly flammable. Additionally this product is not intended for use on or near the eyes or mucous membranes
Use
The can must be shaken prior to each use and it is advised that you keep the spray 6 inches away from your feet while spraying. The directions go on to suggest that you spray the tops and bottoms of your feet as well as between your toes. It also indicates that you can spray it in socks or shoes.
I simply spray my feet (and sometimes the insides of my sneakers) before throwing my shoes on. The product dries quickly and adds perhaps a minute to my morning regimen.
I apply it again most evenings when I take my shoes off. According to the label you can apply this product up to 4 times a day (allowing you to perhaps apply it during your lunch break if odor is a significant worry) and is safe for kids as young as 2.
Effectiveness
So long as I spray my feet twice a day there is no odor to worry about. It works on my children as well, even the one who's foot odor can literally contaminate an entire room.
It is pleasant and easy to use. The scent is minty and not the least bit offensive. It is cooling to the feet and feels positively glorious in the summer or at the end of a long hard day.
Other techniques to control foot odor:
- wash your feet often
- make sure your feet are totally dry before putting on socks and/or shoes
- soak feet in warm water with either vinegar or Epsom salts added
- go shoeless more often
- wear socks that are 100% cotton
- choose shoes made of natural materials
- avoid wearing the same shoes every day, allowing time for them to air out
- replace shoes, or insert charcoal based liners, if odor lingers in shoes
