In my never-ending search for the best abdominal product, I bought Gold’s Gym Ab Roller with Pro Assist Spring. I was intrigued by the springs! It turned out that the Pro-Assist Spring is intended for the beginner and intermediate user to give more help during the workout. The spring can be removed and put back on if different people use this Ab Roller.
It came with no directions on how to use the Ab Roller but I was told I could look at videos online, which I tried to do. The website is IFit.com. After 15 minutes I stopped looking for the free videos I was supposed to be able to find.
The fact is the Ab Roller is quite straightforward so you really don’t need a lesson. The only thing you may not know if that if you turn your legs to the right or left you will be working your obliques – the sides of your abdominal area.
What I got:
What I didn't get was a warranty but for less than $20.00 I don’t think it would be necessary.
~Assembly directions
~An ab roller made of steel (versus foam and/or plastic).
~A removable spring
~A cushioned headrest
~A foam covered grip area
The measurements are about 25 ½ inches long by almost 25 inches wide by 24 ½ inches high. It weighs about 5 pounds and can easily fit in a corner of a room without being intrusive.
Let's use it:
I have used many products similar to Gold's Gym Ab Roller but the design of this one is slightly different.
It was easy to assemble and all the holes lined up.
I have been using the Ab Roller without the spring but I tried it with the spring and that is a really nice feature for someone new to abdominal work.
You really have to use this on a mat or rug. If not your spine will hurt because you are lying on the floor.
I put my head on the thick head rest and hold on to the grips in front of me. From there I use the Ab Roller to assist in a pretty near perfect crunch. Along with the oblique work I noted above I can also use the Ab Roller for double crunches (bringing my knees to my chest and rolling up).
I feel no strain on my neck and really feel the Ab Roller working my abs.
Jo's Final Thoughts:
Gold's Gym Ab Roller with Pro Assist Springs is a keeper in my opinion. It adds something different to ab work without breaking the bank. I like that it is not made of plastic although the foam will be prime chewing property for your puppy so keep it away from dogs and small children.
