I have a 9 year old Eclectus parrot who just looooooooooves to eat.  Ekkies are known as the pigs of the bird world and they will eat anything.  I have my girl on a pretty strict diet based on greens, vegetables, brown rice, and beans, but I know that it is important to both treat her and include some fatty nuts into her diet.  Enter Goldenfeast Nutmeats and Fruits.

About This Product

Goldenfeast Nutmeats and Fruits are exactly what they sound like: a blend of shelled nuts and dried fruits.  I won't bore you with the complete ingredients listing but some of the components include cranberries, apples, almonds, peanuts, Brazil nuts, papaya, cashews, Macadamia nuts, and blueberries.  You can easily find a full listing of the ingredients online or on the side of the actual package. 

This brand/product isn't available in any of the local pet supply shops--national or independent.  It seems that it is only sold in avian-specific stores in this area and, of course, through many parrot-centered web sites.  I buy this product solely through internet web sites that sell parrot supplies.

My Experience

I've been feeding my Eclectus Goldenfeast Nutmeats and Fruits occasionally for the past two years.  I only give it to her in a very small amount because she will ignore her fresh food mix (greens, beans, rice, seasonal fruits and vegetables) to chow down on this mix of nuts and dried fruits if she had her choice.  She certainly likes it and is happy to find it in her bowl. 

This product isn't designed to be the main basis of a parrot's diet.  I only give it to my ekkie occasionally, but she is very happy to eat it when she does find it in her bowl.  I will definitely keep it on hand in the future. 

Overall Opinion

Goldenfeast Nutmeats and Fruit is something that my parrot really loves.  I don't give it to her all the time, but she is very happy to find it in her bowl when I do put some in there as a treat.
