Goldfish Crackers have been a favorite snack for as long as I remember. They come in handy at any time of the day or night. Since I've become an avid label reader, I'm very happy to see that Peperidge Farm Goldfish Crackers have a good list of ingredients, ones which I am not scared to put into my body.

About The Cracker
Peperidge Farm Goldfish Crackers are little goldfish-shaped crackers that are somewhat hollow in the center and very crunchy. There are several flavors to choose from, but my favorite is the cheddar. Each cracker is 3/4 of and inch long and just under 3/4 of an inch wide. They are yellowish-orange in color. Some of the crackers even have little smiley faces on them!
The Big Box
Recently we purchased the big box of Goldfish Crackers. It is a 33.5 oz (2.1 lb) cardboard box with an opening like a milk carton where you pull apart the two pieces at one end making an opening to pour the crackers out. It is very convenient for pouring into a bowl, but not for eating out of the package. I'm pleased to say that this packaging design hasn't caused the crackers to get stale. We've had the same carton for close to a month, and the crackers aren't the least bit stale. The carton was significantly less money per unit than the smaller bags.
On the carton, the following statements are made about Goldfish Cheddar Crackers:
- Natural- No Artificial Preservatives
- Og Trans Fat
- Baked With Real Cheese
Made with Smiles and Unbleached Enriched Wheat Flour [Flour, Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamin Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Folic Acid], Cheddar Cheese [Pasturized Cultured Milk, Salt Enzymes, Annatto], Vegetable Oils (Sunflower, Canola and/or Soybean), Contains 2% or Less of: Salt, Yeast, Sugar, Spices, Autolized Yeast, Leavening (Monocalcium Phosphate, Ammonium Bicarbonate, Baking Soda), and Onion Powder.
I love that there are no unpronouncable preservatives, no artificial colores, no MSG, and no corn syrup products. We're trying our best to stay away from those things, as they are not healthy. Real cheddar cheese is used to give these crackers their tasty flavor, which is the way it should be!

This is one of my favorite snacks. They are great to take along, too. The cheese flavor is very real, and is found abundantly in each little fishy. Whether you eat one at a time, or a handful at a time, you'll get full flavor from each crunchy cracker. They have minimal mess, and only require a little napkin and a bit of finger licking after eating. For this reason, I recommend having a napkin or something to wipe your fingers on after eating them. There is a very slightly greasy, but mostly crackery residue left over on fingers after eating them. They never leave a greasy film in my mouth, though. Goldfish Crackers do make me thirsty when I eat them, but they aren't overly salty like some snacks can be. They seem to have just the right amount of salt to cure a salt craving I may have, without going overboard.
While these crackers don't pack a bundle of nutrition, they don't contain junk ingredients either. This is why these crackers are one of my favorites (not to mention the great flavor!). My husband likes these little fishies as well. They are great for kids and adults, and make a great addition to lunch or alone as a snack. They taste quite yummy in tomato soup, or as a substitute for chips with a sandwich.
There is another thing I'd like to to note about Peperidge Farm Cheddar Goldfish Crackers. In the beginning of the summer I came down with either food poisoning or a stomach bug and wasn't able to keep anything inside of my stomach for two days. Towards the end of the second day, I was hungry and tried a few of these crackers. Not only did they taste good (when not much else did), but they didn't give my stomach any hastle either! As I recovered from whatever that was, I would snack on Goldfish crackers off and on, and not once did they even make my stomach rumble. For this reason, I recommend these crackers to anyone who is sick and is looking for a little snack to tame a testy tummy. Of course, I ate them in slow moderation, but handled them well, so anytime my stomach isn't happy, but yet I'm hungry, I often reach for my favorite Goldfish Crackers!
One Last Note...
I'd like to point out that I could not find the exact size box of crackers here on the site. The closest I could find was the 38 oz box. I based this review on my latest purchase of the 33.5 oz box. The picture shown here for this product looks just the same as the one I bought, just maybe a little taller.
