amyk49's Full Review: Goldwell Kerasilk Ultra Rich Shampoo 8.4oz
The salon I go to uses mostly Goldwell products, and I'm always in love with my hair when I leave the salon. I've been trying different Goldwell hair care products at home, and my latest is their Kerasilk Ultra Rich Care Shampoo.
~ Product Description Goldwell Kerasilk Ultra Rich Care Shampoo is an intense conditioning shampoo formulated for extremely dry, damaged and unmanageable hair. It contains natural silk proteins, and jojoba oil for extra moisturizing properties. The bottle further tells us this shampoo will leave your hair "instantly smooth, easy to comb, shiny, and soft as silk."
The directions for use are as expected; apply to wet hair, lather, and rinse thoroughly.
This comes in different sizes, but I have the 8.4 fl. oz. bottle, which cost about $12. You can find this in beauty supply stores and online. The bottle is the familiar, but rather drab, Goldwell yellow and red color. It's plastic, with a pop-up cap.
~ My Experience
I have combination hair; oily at the roots and dry on the ends. My hair is straight and limp, and color treated. Many hair products weigh down my hair, yet I do need good conditioning because of the dry ends that have become somewhat damaged from all the coloring and highlighting. Generally I wash my hair every day though, because of the oily roots. My hair falls flat when it's not clean.
Even though my hair is fairly manageable, not frizzy, and not horribly damaged, I wanted to try this conditioning shampoo to hopefully mitigate the dry ends and smooth out my hair.
The shampoo as it comes out of the bottle is a pearly white, and surprisingly on the thinner side, though not what I would call runny. The scent is mild and pleasant and fairly unremarkable. It has a "clean" kind of scent, that doesn't really linger much in my hair after it dries.
Goldwell Kerasilk Ultra Rich Care Shampoo delivers a very rich, luxurious lather, and you don't need much at all. I really love the almost heavy lather from this shampoo. It rinses out cleanly and easily though, and I noticed it does not leave my wet hair with that stripped, squeaky clean kind of feel. Although this is called a "conditioning shampoo," it's not a one-step shampoo/conditioner. You do need a conditioner afterward.
I've used different conditioners after this shampoo, but generally I use a lighter conditioner because the shampoo itself is so rich. I need to be careful not to over condition my limp hair.
After blow drying and styling my hair as usual, it looks beautiful, shiny, clean and healthy, is manageable and not weighed down. Still, this is a rich shampoo and I don't use it everyday on my fine, limp hair, but rather use it along with my daily shampoo a couple times a week. If you have very dry, damaged, coarse, frizzy, or unmanageable hair you could probably use this daily and it would be fine.
~ Final Thoughts Goldwell Kerasilk Ultra Rich Care Shampoo is a moisturizing, luxurious, conditioning shampoo that is excellent for dry, damaged, unmanageable hair. Even though I have straight, limp, find hair, it has helped with my dry ends and doesn't weigh my hair down, although I don't use it every day. Try this for over-processed, damaged hair - I think you'll like it!
