Pros: well made, attractive, closes to keep toothpicks clean, holder comes with toothpicks, refillable
Cons: As far as I can tell (after searching), Good Cook doesn’t sell toothpick refills.
The Bottom Line: An excellent toothpick holder and toothpicks. The Bottom Line is using one of these toothpicks to clean the extra ink from between its double letters.

| dlstewart's Full Review: Good Cook Shake-a-Pick Toothpick Holder |
A toothpick holder has stood on my parents kitchen table for as long as I can remember. But even toothpick holders eventually begin to show signs of age. The current toothpick holder had to be at least ten years old, and the plastic lid had started to crack. While my mother and I were shopping, we discovered the Good Cook Toothpick Holder. We immediately liked the look of it ... so in the cart in went.
Description
This circular toothpick holder has a contemporary look with its clear acrylic bottom and white and black screw-on lid. The holder stands 3 1/2" tall with a diameter of 1 3/4". The 2 5/8" tall clear bottom screws onto the black and white lid. (When unscrewed, the bottom measures 2 15/16" tall.) The lid has a black band around the bottom, and the top of the lid is white. When the white section of the lid is twisted, a hole is revealed. This is where the toothpicks shake out of the dispenser. When the hole is not visible, black plastic shows ... adding another contemporary-looking design feature. The clear acrylic bottom section has several raised lines running in a circle near the bottom of the holder. This is a nice looking toothpick holder.
As a bonus, the holder comes loaded with 200 bamboo toothpicks. These wooden toothpicks are 2 5/8" long. The toothpicks arent lacking in style, either. They are rounded with a squared end and pointy tip. Near the squared end are two decoratively engraved lines about 3/16" apart. These decorative lines look as though they were crafted on a lathe, the detailing is so fine.
The toothpick holder is mounted on a cardboard blister card. We found the unit hanging in the cooking utensil aisle of a local department store.
My Experiences
How much can one say about a toothpick holder and toothpicks. Either it works or doesnt, right?
The lid of this toothpick holder easily twists in both directions. Just turn the white section of the lid until the hole is revealed. Turn the dispenser sideways to tip the toothpicks toward the hole. A gentle shake will release one toothpick from the container. If the toothpicks jam in the hole (which happens on occasion), then tip the container back and then forward again. A toothpick slides partway out of the holder so it can be grasped and pulled the rest of the way free.
These are sturdy toothpicks. They are solid and smooth. Each toothpick has a little give in it, but does not easily bend and requires a bit of force to snap. The manufacturer states the toothpicks are nonporous and will not splinter when in use. Everyone in our family who has tried these toothpicks has liked them. The tip is long and pointy, too.
At family gatherings, toothpicks are popular ... and not just for removing the odd food particle from between the teeth. These toothpicks are long enough to spear fresh fruit pieces from a platter. Toothpicks are also great as cake and bread testers to determine whether the food has baked enough or needs a few minutes more oven time.
We have also used toothpicks to clean out the narrow hard-to-reach channels in plastic container lids. Its amazing the gunk that builds up in those crevices.
When a family member had the cordless mouse batteries die, the batteries were replaced. Then someone grabbed a toothpick to push in the tiny recessed button on the mouse to reconnect the computer/mouse setting.
Our family is filled with gardeners. After a day of planting and weeding, a toothpick comes in handy for removing soil from beneath fingernails. Ive also used toothpicks to anchor spider plant babies in position until they root into the soil.
Im sure there are other uses for toothpicks, too. These happen to be the ones Im remembering right now!

Purchasing
Our impulse purchase (which we are very happy to have made!) was bought at Target for $1.99. While cruising the internet, I found this toothpick holder at Walgreens.com for $1.79.
Summary
The entire family likes the Good Cook Toothpick Holder. And the price is certainly attractive considering you not only receive the holder (which is refillable) but also 200 very nice toothpicks. Not bad for an impulse buy!
I hope you have found this review useful.
