About Me: I am a writer, and more generally an entrepreneur.

Similar to Eminem, but Much More Disturbing (Like a Virgin W/O)

Written: May 24 '02 (Updated May 24 '02)
Pros:The beats, the rhymes.
Cons:The sheer vulgarity of the album, the tastelessness.
The Bottom Line: I think that most people won't like this CD. I like some of the tracks, but not most of them. I find most of the songs offensive.

Necro’s music is in very bad taste. He delivers good beats and clever rhymes, but it’s all honestly done in bad taste. For those of you that haven’t heard of Necro, I’d like you to multiply the vulgarity of Eminem and multiply it times 50. Necro says some of the most messed up stuff I’ve ever heard in my life. If kids listened to this, it would definitely give them nightmares. One of the songs, Poetry in the Streets, contains a line that says, I spit on your grave, p*ss in your mouth, and sh*t on your face. For a little comparison, that’s the cleanest thing he says.

Necro grew up in the projects in Brooklyn, New York. He spent most of his time getting in fights and playing sports. In 1988, Necro began to rhyme after being influenced by his older brother Ill Bill, who would constantly rap in the house. Looking for a way to distinguish himself, Necro knew he had to contribute his unique style to the world of Hip Hop. Necro has gone on to work with such artists as Non-Phixion, Ill Bill, Cage, DV alias Krist, Al Tariq, Missing Linx, and MC Search.

Eminem VS Necro. Eminem is white, Necro is white. Eminem is very offensive, but Necro is so much worse. Eminem raps about things that most people would never think of, but Necro raps about things that most people can’t think of. If you don’t believe me, take a look at this CHORUS from the song You’re All Dying:

You disrespect me - You're All F*ckin Dying!
It wasn't your fault, well - You're All F*ckin Dying!
You's the one that did it, well - You're All F*ckin Dying!
My feelings get hurt - You're All F*ckin Dying!
Sometime in ya life - You're All F*ckin Dying!
Every human that's living now - You're All F*ckin Dying!
In 10 years or 30 years - You're All F*ckin Dying!
When the nuclear war comes - You're All F*ckin Dying!

That might now sound so bad, but… IT’S A CHORUS FOR GOD-SAKES! Yeah, I think that Eminem looks like a goody two shoes standing next to Necro. The rhymes that Necro writes are so clever, but out of such bad taste. He’s a rapper that’s obsessed with death and it always shines through in each of his songs. Necro also raps about sadism, violence, and death to pornography, drugs, cockroaches, and STD's. Necro is bad, but Ill Bill definitely rivals him. In one of Necro’s tracks, Circle of Tyrants, Ill Bill raps the following:

Beetles crawling out of your eyes sockets
Puss pouring out of your mouth on top of dry vomit
Billions of body bags, blood drenched battle fields
Big butcher knives, you f*cking f*ggots
Get your f*cking face erased from your cabbage

I find some of the stuff that Necro produces entertaining, but that’s only because his music is so outrageous. Necro is truly like nothing else on the market today. His style can be compared with Eminem, but in my opinion, Necro is way beyond Eminem. Necro is talented but he has uttered some of the most disturbing words I’ve ever heard.

This album is absolutely not for kids, and probably not for most adults. This CD fits such a minor demographic due to its crudeness and inappropriate subject matter. Although this CD doesn’t preach any positive moral values, I think it could be the future of hip hop. I remember when Eminem first came out and everyone said that it was horribly disgusting. We all know how that situation turned out.

Being my first music review ever, I’m not sure what else to say. The beats are good, and the rhymes are, well, interesting. I’m torn in many aspects of the album, but I think it’s something that I have to tell people to give it a shot. Just download one song, if you like it, buy some of his other stuff, if you don’t like it, then don’t. His other album, I Need Drugs, is much better/worse then Gory Days. I’d say that I Need Drugs is better than Gory Days because it’s more original and more outrageous. I’d say that I Need Drugs is worse than Gory Days because it’s more outrageous and covers more inappropriate subject matter.

Necro is talented, but I’m not sure if that’s a good thing for you. Try his music out for yourself. If you have a weak stomach, don’t listen to this music. If you are a kid, don’t buy this CD. If you like Eminem, but wish his lyrics were cleaner, then you won’t like this CD. If you like Eminem, and think his lyrics are okay just the way they are, you might like this album. If you like Eminem, but wish his lyrics were more vulgar, you’ll love this CD.
