Pros: Low to floor, fits crib mattress
Cons: Hard to put together
The Graco Cozy bed I purchased in Canada is slightly different than the picture of the one shown here. It actually looks more like the Cosco bed. This has all plastic construction except for the wooden bed rails.
I purchased this bed at Toys R US after my daughter showed me she could propel herself out of her playpen that she sleeps in when we go to the cottage. If she could do that with her Pack n' Play, she could do that with her crib. She's 22 months so the time was right for a switch (Although I wish I could have kept her safe in the crib until she was about 2 1/2).
The pieces snap together, no tools required. They don't snap together easily but they do warn you of that in the instructions so at least I didn't feel like I bought a defective unit. It took some work but we got it done. It was very sturdy. Now came the true test.
You have to know my daughter. When we were on vacation, she slept in her playpen. When we would collapse it to go home, she would cry thinking she'd have nowhere to sleep. So, our concern was how she would handle taking apart her crib. We showed her the bed and her love affair with the crib was over. She couldn't wait to get it into her room. As soon as her crib mattress was on, we couldn't get her off. She "helped" us take apart her crib and that was it.
I feared her wandering around at night and at nap times but she is so excited to get in her bed, bedtimes have never been easier. She stays in her bed until we come get her. It has gone better than I could have ever imagined. Since it's low to the floor, a tumble wouldn't hurt, although she has yet to fall out due to the side rails.
This is a great first bed and highly recommend it.
