Pros:adjustable height, reclining back, 2 trays, CUSHY seat!
Cons:too hard to clean
The Bottom Line: A comfy chair, but too many crevices make cleaning not so much fun!!
I received the Graco DoubleTray Highchair as a shower gift before my son was born. We've been using it for almost 18 months and are about ready to say good-bye to this chair. We definitely have a love/hate relationship with this high chair.
The Good Stuff
Some of the Product features that make this chair stand out from the rest are: Six height adjustments and 3 recline positions, Folds up for storage, chair can fit snugly against table and used without the trays, a safe 5-point restraint system, a washable cloth seat that is super padded (with a secondary vinyl seat pad underneath) and of course 2 removable trays, a small "snack" tray and a larger tray that has compartments.
The high chair comes in several different patterns. We got the "Princeton" pattern [Navy Blue and Yellow] that matched the rest of the Graco products we registered for.
We started putting our child in it when he was just a few weeks old (in the reclined position) so he could be at the table with us when we ate. My son LOVES this chair. He loved it before he ate at the table and he loves it now (he's been getting cereals and baby food for about a month). We use this chair even when we're not eating. The recline mode is great and makes this chair usable from the time your child is an infant til they get older. I often put Alex in the chair when I am in the kitchen cooking, cleaning etc. Its really comfortable and being up high gives him a nice vantage point. He falls asleep in it, so I know that he is comfortable.
And of course, we use this chair at mealtime. One thing of note: Our kitchen table is higher than most standard kitchettes, because it used to be in a coffee-shop. Some high chairs would be too low for this table. But the fact that the height is adjustable means that it doesn't matter. We are able to use this in our kitchen (where the table is high) or in our dining room (where the table is much lower) No matter which room we are in -we're able to pull it right up to the table!
I like having 2 trays. One is a small "snack" tray that doesn't take up any room at all. The other is a large table tray and this tray can be used for feeding. It easily comes on or off with one hand and locks into place while you are using it.
The seat on this chair has to be the cushiest, most padded seat for a high chair. I wish I could sit in a seat like that, instead of the chairs we have. It also has a 5 point harness, meaning that I know my son is safe in this chair and not going to fall out.
The Not So Good Stuff
Lets start small.. or not so small, actually. This high chair doesn't fold up because it has a molded seat. The legs can fold but they do not fold down flat. Its not a seat that I would recommend for traveling or "tucking away" while not in use. It takes up A LOT of room. In fact, its mammoth.
But my biggest issues with this high chair are cleaning concerns. During infancy and early feeding it was fine. Once my son started self-feeding in this chair it was a nightmare. There are way too many crevices in this chair, food disappears into and then gets really funky. The cloth cover is washable but it got stained too - that baby food is pretty potent. The underneath vinyl pad is only great if treated with kid gloves. Ours got a tiny tear in it when I was taking it off of the chair one day and as a result it started to trap moisture. So, that got tossed out because I refuse to have mold or something growing. The tray is huge and too big to fit in our sink. So I have to wash it (no joke) in the bathtub!!! Plus, the cupholder on the tray is too small to fit a large size Gerber Fun Grips cup in it!
Overall
My son loves this chair and I used to love it too. But the cleaning difficulties make it something that I can't recommend. Graco needs to rethink all the nooks and crannies on this one.
Its a high chair NOT an english muffin.
