parentalunit's Full Review: Graco Doubletray Highchair
The Graco Doubletray high chair was probably one of the best investments we have made for our son. This is a chair that he will grow into and one that is made to last. Our son is comfortable in the chair and with the different settings, we will be able to use this into his toddler years if needed.
The high chair is very well constructed. I am thankful for my husband's patience because there is no way I could have put this together on my own. He said it was relatively easy to assemble but I was worried because of the number of parts needing assembled. He had it put together in less than thirty minutes and with few curse words.
The chair is quality constructed. We have hardwood floors in our dining room so I wanted something that wasn't going to scuff up the wood and this was perfect. I worried that I would have to purchase a chair that required putting a rug underneath it and might slide around but the thick molded plastic for the legs is easy on the wood. The way the legs are positioned and because of their width, we don't worry about the chair tipping over when he is moving about.
The high chair has six different heights and can be adjusted easily. This is really nice when we fold the high chair up to take with us on visits. With the different height adjustments, we can change it so he can sit comfortably at grandma's dining table with the rest of us and then change it again to fit our dining room table when we get home.
There are three different recline positions too, which I thought was a wonderful feature. When our son was first starting out on foods like cereal, we could adjust the high chair back further for his comfort and now we stick mostly to the middle reclining position. The three settings make it nice for adjusting the seat with the age of the child.
The seat part of the high chair has a wide high back to it and at first our son looked like he was sinking into it because he appeared so small in the chair. Now he sits in it comfortably just like a baby recliner. As he gets a little bigger and older, the design of the chair will allow him to rest his feet comfortably on the footrest and the openings give him plenty of leg room.
One of the nicest features is the 5 point restraining system that is similar to his carseat. I don't have to worry about him slipping through the bottom like I might have with old high chair models. I know he is snug and secure in this chair.
There are two trays and the smaller fun snacker tray is the one I use to sit his food on when feeding him. The larger wrap around tray is nice and wide so he has plenty of room for his cookies and his favorite toys. He never fusses when we put him in the chair and seems quite content to sit there with us while we eat and he plays with his toys or chews on his cookies.
For a mom, it is really nice that the cushion pad is easy to clean up and is washable. The old high chair models always seemed so dirty with food stuck in the corners but not anymore. This chair is easy to clean because of the washable pad and also because the legs are plastic instead of the metal style legs on the old high chair models. No stuck on nasty foods because the plastic is easy to maintain.
This was a great investment and since we have bought several Graco products. We have come to depend on them for quality and safety, which are very important when it comes to caring for our son.
