Those were the words I heard from my 1 1/2 year old daughter, Courtney, as we stood in the toddler bed aisle of my local Toys R Us store, trying to decide which toddler bed to buy. There were many beds to choose from including beds shaped like racecars, beds shaped like teddy bears, and many *normal* looking beds in bright colors such as red and blue, but Courtney had made the decision for us. She was pointing to a cute little white bed, made by Graco, that had a glow in the dark moon and stars on the headboard. After looking at the price tags of $70.00, I knew that Courtney would get her wish and be sleeping under the moon and stars that night!
When we got home my husband and I removed all the pieces of the bed from the box and prepared for the assembly as Courtney watched anxiously nearby. The parts included a headboard, a footboard, 2 mattress retainers (used to keep the mattress from sliding) and 2 bed rails made of a durable white plastic. Two long legs, 2 short legs, 2 side tubes and 6 crossbars made of metal. A hex wrench, 4 hex screws, 5 screws, 10 T-nuts, a mattress support made of thick cardboard, a decorative panel and of course the glow in the dark moon and 9 stars. The only tool not included was a standard size philips screwdriver, used to attach the moon and stars to the headboard.
Now you may be thinking, "Wow, with all those parts, assembly must take forever!" , but from start to finish it took us a total of ten minutes. Assembled the bed measured 4 1/2 feet long by 2 1/2 feet wide, about the same size as Courtney's crib. All that was left to do, was place Courtney's crib mattress (full size 131cm x 69cm) on the toddler bed frame, add sheets, a blanket, and a pillow, and voila! Courtney had a *big girl* bed.
That night Courtney couldn't wait to climb into her new bed. After reading her a bedtime story and tucking her in snuggly, I turned out the lights so that she could fall asleep under the lightly *glowing* moon and stars.
We have owned the Graco Glow-In-The-Dark Toddler Bed for almost two years now. That's over 800 nights of Courtney sleeping in it, and it still looks brand new after simply wiping it off with warm soapy water as needed.
The Graco Toddler bed is intended for children between 15 months and 5 years of age, with a maximum weight of 50 pounds. With Courtney being 3 years old and weighing a whopping 30 ponds, I figure she won't outgrow this bed for at least 2 more years! Now, that's what I call getting my money's worth!
In conclusion, if your child has outgrown his/her crib and you're looking for a reasonably priced, sturdy, toddler bed that your child will love, I highly recommend the Graco Glow-In-Th-Dark Toddler Bed!
