| imbattmom's Full Review: Graco Glow-in-the Dark Toddler Bed |
My toddler is spoiled rotten. I admit it. But, you see...he's my fourth and final baby, and I want to cherish every minute of his babyhood. I've spoiled him in several ways; one of which is his sleeping habits.
Trent was never a good sleeper. When he was littler, and I was nursing him, he would wake up at least every three hours to eat. I found it much easier to just leave him in bed with me, instead of hauling my lazy tushy out of bed so often. This created a habit. Now, I'm not trying to start a debate about co-sleeping here...I'm just providing some background to my son's sleeping habits.
Every time I would try to lay him in his crib, he would wake up within a couple of hours. This continued month after month after MONTH! He turned two this August, so I decided it was TIME for him to start sleeping through the night. I knew I wasn't ready to spring for all new furniture yet, so off I went to Toys R Us to check out the selection of toddler beds.
I found the perfect solution to our nighttime woes: The Graco Glow-in-the-Dark Toddler Bed. The manufacturer's page lists it here on Epinions as costing $98.00, but I purchased it for $59 (I used a $10 coupon). It does not come with a mattress, but a standard-sized crib mattress fits it perfectly. This bed is very sturdy, and low to the ground...perfect for my little guy. It has a white frame, with crib rails on the side to prevent falls. The headboard features a cute royal blue background with glow-in-the-dark moons and stars(the glowing fades away in about 20 minutes. You have to have a light on, or window shades open during the day to charge the figures up, though...or no go on the glow!) Assembly was fairly easy--I put it together myself in less than an hour.
The Verdict:
Mr. Spoiled Rotten Boy loves his new big boy bed. I'm not going to lie here and say that he always sleeps through the night now...because he doesn't. He does sleep through the night about 70% of the time, which is a great improvement. Also, when he does wake up, now he can simply walk into my room and climb into bed with me. He doesn't even wake me up! Sometimes I wake up in the morning with him next to me, thinking "Huh...when did he climb in?!"
If your little one is ready to get out of the crib, but you're not ready to shell out the big bucks for all new furniture just yet...I highly recommend the Graco Glow-in-the-Dark Toddler Bed. Sweet dreams!
