| HawgWyld's Full Review: Graco Neat Seat Reclining Adjustable |
My 13-month-old daughter is a huge fan of this high chair. In addition to being very comfortable, it allows her to sit up with us at the table and dine away. In fact, she likes it so much, that she told me all about it. How do I know? Well, here's the conversation that she laid on me the other night while in her high chair, along with the accurate translation:
Young Brenda SueCarol: Daddy! Ahhhh, goo! Acka-bah ooo! Doh, doh, heh, heh, hee, Daddy! Owphhhht oock, oock ack! (child then throws a biscuit). Urghhhh! Oper mmmmmmm ooop!
Very Accurate Translation: Daddy, you've done so much for me that I'll never be able to repay you. All I can do is learn from what you've taught me and strive to be a healthy and happy person. I shall also realize, when I reach a certain age, that those rotten boys are up to no good and deserve to be chased from our home by an angry Daddy with a shotgun. To demonstrate my commitment to these lofty goals, I shall toss this -- my favorite biscuit -- to you. Oh, and I like this chair.
See! There's proof of her love for this chair if I ever saw it.
All kidding aside, this is a fantastic chair for a good price. The only real problem with it is that it's huge. The base on the thing is close to a yard long and around two feet wide. That means that it's a very stable seat, but it takes up a lot of room in your home. That's a very important thing to keep in mind unless you've got plenty of room to spare in your home.
Fortunately, that big base is evidence of what the designers of this chair had in mind -- safety. I don't worry about the chair tipping over, nor do I worry about her hopping out of the seat in the chair or removing the tray and bolting. The harness designed to keep the child in the chair does it's job, and the tray can only be removed by someone (hopefully a parent or guardian) at the front of the chair. Let the little girl squirm all she wants. Let her wave her arms, kick and lean from side to side. This chair was designed so that she won't fall. And, the thing is durable -- heavy plastic and some type of metal (aluminum?) are used to both form and reinforce this chair.
In addition to being safe, it's also adjustable. It can be leaned back so that baby is reclining, and that's good for feeding the youngster bottles and such. In addition to reclining, the chair can also be adjusted up and down easily. That, of course, means that little babies can be raised up so they can sit near the table, while it can be lowered enough so that toddlers can sit at the table with the rest of the family (the tray will have to be removed, of course). Adjusting the chair is a breeze, particularly for parents used to the adjustments and such that seem to be necessary with every product designed for a growing child.
"But, Hawg. My child likes to throw food and make a mess. Does this chair clean up easily?" Indeed it does. Oh, yes. Cleaning this thing is a breeze. The seat part of it is made of vinyl, and that snaps off the chair easily and can usually be cleaned by either giving it a good, hearty shaking out the back door or brushing it off over a trash can. The tray is made of a very durable plastic that cleans up easily when sprayed with water.
Finally, this chair is dirt cheap -- $55 is the price I paid, and look at all the nifty features I got. Give this chair a look, and you'll probably be very satisfied with the durable, safe construction. Just make sure you have enough room in your home to hold this thing.
