The Graco Snugride 32 Carseat Base is perfect for parents that 1) have more than one car or 2) desire to keep one base permanently installed after the safety inspection.
The base was released ~October 2008 and can be used with the Graco Snugride 32 Car seat and the Graco Infant Safeseat.

DIMENSIONS
The base measures 24.5” long and 17.3” wide*. This might be a tight fit for a compact car. The base weighs 7.2 pounds but hopefully you won’t have to carry it too much because it is meant to stay in the car. * with car seat attached the dimensions are over 30x18”
FEATURES
- You can install the base once, have it inspected, and then leave it correctly installed - One hand adjustment dial to level your seat properly without having to use towels - Integrated belt lock-off (no more clips to lock off your seat belt) - If car is newer than 2002, base has quick attachments for LATCH system - You can get this base in two colors only: tan and silver. The car seat patterns are mostly neutral colors so no worries there, but you might want to match the car seat handle with the base.
INSTALLATION
Installation is a breeze if you have the LATCH system in a 2002 or newer car. Two handy clips quickly attach to you LATCH anchors in the backseat and then you tighten tighten tighten!
You have to put almost all your weight on the seat to get it properly installed. I was in the back seat of both cars with elbows and knees trying to get all the slack out of the belt.
Installation in our other car with a seat belt was a little more cumbersome as I had to route the seat belt through the belt lock-off and tighten the actual seat belt. The leverage on the seat belt is not as good as using the LATCH clips.

WHY THIS BASE?
My wife and I purchased the Graco Snugride 32 car seat with this base for several reasons listed in the car seat review. But we added an additional base mainly so we could have a properly installed car seat at all times in our main car. Too often new parents are rushed with the many newborn appointments, so we wanted to make our lives that less stressful and get two bases. For under $50, not having to tighten, tug, and maneuver car seats and bases in and out of cars for the next year (at a minimum) is worth it. We have two midsized cars so the choice of this base and seat was no problem.
As of 4/15/09 there are no known problems/recalls for the Graco Snugride 32 or base using The Safety Restraint Coalition Website.
