| karebearkl's Full Review: Graco Ultraclear Monitor (2 Receivers) |
I received this monitor a few weeks before our second daughter was born - our old one (a fisher price) never worked right, and I didn't want to use it again. Plus I wanted 2 receivers because we now had a bigger house and I wanted one receiver at one end, and another at the other.
My mother purchased this monitor from target - except it's white - not the clear green like in the picture.
It picks up EVERY single little sound. Our nursery is in the smack middle of the house - and the monitor picks up my typing (from 3 rooms away) right now as I type this. Everything is crystal clear with this monitor. No static... no fuzz... no neighbor's conversations - just you and your baby.
The receivers come with adapters to keep them plugged into the walls, but they also can run on 9 volt batteries... which has come in very handy many times. I haven't noticed any difference in sound quality between the adapter and the battery - the battery comes in just as crystal clear as the unit does while plugged into the wall. Also it gets GREAT battery life! I have yet to change the batteries, and my little one is 3 and a half months old. Plus on the top of the receivers is a convenient arched handle. Makes it very easy to carry around with you. There is also a belt clip on the back! A very well designed unit!
I have never had the volume higher than the lowest setting. It's VERY LOUD. I can't imagine having it on the highest setting (there are 4 volume settings). My one complaint is that there is not a lights only feature.
The lights work like a charm also. My small complaint with those is that they light up off the chart when our air conditioner turns on (that's how sensitive it is). Which, in Arizona, our a/c is ALWAYS on... so it sort of renders the lights useless. But it would still be nice to have a lights only feature anyway (for those who would use it).
The reception range on this unit is AMAZING to say the least. One night I decided to test it. I went 2 houses down the street before it got static in the reception and 4 houses before I totally lost the reception.
