Pros: Multiple uses.
I like nice simple, kitchen equipment. I watch cooking shows but I always simplify when it comes to my cooking apparatus. One little tool I do find handy is Graham Kerr's Bash and Chop.
This tool is multipurpose. It's stainless steel, flat with a curled handle, easy to clean, ergonomically designed, comfortable to use and dishwasher safe. This is also called a bench knife. It even has a little ruler for measuring. You get a lot of bang for your buck.
You can find these in TJMaxx or in Kitchen supply stores
I use it to "bash" garlic cloves and then scrape up the pieces and toss into foods. See three uses right there. I have two of these gadgets and use them together to scoop up foods and serve them.
I found this in TJ Maxx so the price was beyond reasonable. I like that there are few crevices for foods to get stuck in, there is an opening in the "handle" area which could conceivably gather foods but it doesn't so far.
The grand kids and I have used this with Play do. It's wonderful for making interesting designs as well as cutting nice slices. This is excellent for bakers for scraping dough off a board, cutting into the dough and evening up edges, use the 6" ruler for dividing up dough evenly.
You can clean up your cooking surface, cutting board or counter easily by scraping this across the area.
I can vouch for its durability since I've had these for over a decade.
