Cons: Some of them just too bloody, the minigames, women don't walk like that!
The Bottom Line: This game gets a high rating because of it's originality in comparison to other games. However, if you're very young, or not into violence you might stay away.

Before I talk about the game, let me say that it seems obvious that almost the only people that have reviewed this game are the ones that like the game. Or so it seems to me. I'm not saying it's a bad game, but I'm sure there are people out there that won't appreciate the crudeness, the violence, or the disrespect given to human life in this game. Oh no, I'm not talking about myself. I don't consider myself a 'bad person', but there is something satisfying about taking out someone you don't like or a character that just rubs you the wrong way. All I'm trying to say is, that if a person comes to epinions and reads all of these rating the game so high, will they realize how violent it is?
Anyway, starting with the graphics, I considered them fairly good, with the exception of the characters, especially the various women walking, or should I say 'wadling' around. It seems that the developers tried to give the women a bit of a 'shake' to their walk, but it looks like they're throwing their rear-end violently to the left and right, way out of normal. Other than that I thought the graphics were pretty good, especially the buildings, the way they depicted a city, with high-rise buildings and normal sized ones as well.
The plot wasn't too bad, although it still seems to be lacking something. If I say 'humanity' I don't mean a certain softness as if the game needs to be like 'Littlehouse on the Prairie', but maybe a different side to one or more of the characters. The game does a good job of catching the hardness of such criminals, but I believe something else could have been added to make them seem a bit more human. Sometimes even the hardest of criminals has a soft side.
Gameplay is pretty smooth. Since I played Grand Theft Auto 3 and had it down pretty good, I didn't have any problems with this one. I still have some slight problems trying to drive the vehicles very fast, but I guess that's just the way it is; you can't drive fast in a small area with so many factors involved. It's just that after playing the game 'Driver', where I drove the pants off that game and kept the cops chasing me all the time, and the physics of the game allowed me to do some pretty impressive driving, the driving in this game felt just a tad off. But then it's not primarily a driving game, so maybe I shouldn't hold it against it.
The sounds and voices were done well. I thought it was cool that one of the characters of the original show Miami Vice did some of the voice dubbing on one of the main characters.
Some of the missions could be fairly difficult, but persistence pays off of course. It just got to be almost a job to get past a mission here and there. Of course, I'm 40 years old, and not the best gamer there is, so some people will have less trouble with these missions than I did.
I loved it that they added the helicopters. I liked to fly them and drive the boats. But the cars kept my attention most of the time, when I just wanted to cruise around. Somehow I got on the wrong side of the Haitans and I became their worst enemy, so often I drive to their neigborhood and entice them to the printing place where the guys there usually make short work of them.
As I mentioned, there are many different things to do in the game besides the missions, and some of them are slightly entertaining. Yet I found the missions in the huge dome, particularly the one where you do stunts on a dirtbike, very annoying. The sound in that place gave me a headache and it wasn't very fun. I just didn't get into the minigames that much.
Overall, for me, it was a pretty entertaining game and it kept me busy for hours, and I'll still play it off and on for a long time.
