"C'mon Robin Hood of Locksley-It's time for an Adventure!"
Written: Oct 2, 2000
Rated a Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:Open-ended, comes with great extras
Cons:Not collapsible, Storage has to be created by YOU
I have read some of the reviews for this product so far. What is everybody thinking? This type of toy is the equivalent of dressing up your child as a character----it is called "role-play".
My son and I read the Robin Hood story and he saw the Adventure series and hand-picked this one. He wanted to role play not have the toy DO it for him! Now, for a hard plastic open-ended toy this contraption comes with a lot of bells and whistles and pieces.
The Extras:
Snakes that slither down the trees---Watch out those of you who are weak about snakes these are realistic looking (Still sends me running as fast as the first time I saw this!)UGH
Boulders that can be launched at targets, travel through a maze of trees and bridges and of course be used for other creative purposes.
The figures have moveable parts (but they are quite unattractive and almost Leperchaunish).
The key to success for your child:
Read the story of Robin Hood and help them identify the characters OR ask them to name the characters as they wish.
Participate the first few times to initiate creativity and role playing. (Also appropriateness of behavior in role playing--setting limits where need be and foster creativity where need be).
Provide your child with a large plastic bag to pick up the pieces and that God-forsaken bridge that will NOT stay on!. My husband thinks I am totally incompetent---but that thing is impossible. Have them clean up and store after each uses so nobody does the splits after gliding on one of 15 pieces.
Then-----
Sit back and watch your preschoolers imagination and creativity expand and grow. (I suggest you tape a couple of sessions--very entertaining)
