Pros: These are really positive and great for preteen girls.
Cons: All these girls do practically is party.
The Bottom Line: I would say the bottom line is this album contains some positive role modeling for preteens. It contains subjects that are interesting for preteens and young teens.
fostrmom2mny's Full Review: Greatest Hits by Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen
To all of you out there that has a preteen young lady that’s into Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen, this is a great Music CD for them. It contains music from several of their videos including BALLET PARTY, BIRTHDAY PARTY, SLEEPOVER PARTY, I AM THE CUTE ONE, BROTHER FOR SALE, and some bonus tracks of new audio releases.
My Daughter has listened to this over and over. She’s spent many hours listening to this CD and reading about Mary Kate & Ashley. I haven’t listened to it myself till today when I decided to write and Epinion about it.
Since I would be writing about it, I felt that it would be practical for me to listen to it on the PC. What a surprise!! Not only is this a CD with music, when I put it in the PC, a picture of the girls pop up with different places to click on pops up. There is a Photo Gallery of the girls in some of their different videos, Web Links to their fan Club, Warner Bros. And a couple more links. Of course it had the album, but the most fascinating this to check out was something that my daughter or I neither one had even expected since it’s not listed, was a SECRET MESSAGE/MUSIC VIDEO. In order to access the video, you are required to provide them with the girls’ birthday. (Like a password) Once you list their b-day, they come on and tell you fabulous job Sherlock! Here’s a special treat, a Music video from their video, SCHOOL DANCE PARTY. The song is “What’s All the Noise About Boys?”
Before reviewing the songs on the album let me say that these girls party more than anyone I’ve ever know. Some of the songs start out with the girls discussing what kind of party to have next. Here is a run down of the songs.
Dancing Your Dreams from Ballet Party. The girls are discussing their dreams. By using their imagination, they travel to New York City where they are a Prima Ballerina in the Great American Ballet Company.
Ice Cream Crazy from Ballet Party. “We’ve had every party known to man,” says one of the girls. They start talking about the parties of the 50’s and 60’s when they came upon the idea of an ice cream social.
Meet You at the Mall from Ballet Party. The girls have been stuck inside for over a week because it has been raining. Their cousin Jamie comes over and invites them to go to the Mall of America in Minneapolis. Along with a couple more friends they go shopping at the mall and sing about it.
Make Over Machine from Birthday Party. This song has some really good and funky music about having a make over. “Anything goes, the hair, the clothes, anything goes. Twist it, trim it, the sky’s the limit.”
Pool Party from Birthday Party. He music is faster paced and about, “A pool party & it’s cool. All you need is water and a bathing suit. It’s a gas, it’s a blast, it’s a splash!”
The Bare Necessities from Birthday Party. The girls are trying to figure out what kind of party to have and this time they come up with a “Camp out Party.” This song is sung during the time that they are packing for camp. “There are just two rules** Do we need it? & Is it cool? Here’s the stuff we really need, just the bare necessities.”
Pullin An All Nighter from Sleepover Party. The girls and their slumber party guests are singing about staying up all night, eating pizza and BOYS!
Dare To Dance from Sleepover Party. The girls sing about being brave enough to get up and dance, even if you don’t think you know how. “Just get up on your feet and get into the beat!”
I Am the Cute One from I Am the Cute One. This song is hip-hop music where the girls sing alternately. One of them has the brains and is older; the other one has the profile and is younger. They both say that they are the cute one and the other one is just her sister. “People say we’re like two peas in a pod.”
No One Tells the President What to Do from I Am the Cute One. This song begins with Pomp & Circumstance. They start singing about wanting to be President, because, “No one tells the President how to dress, no one bugs him if his Oval Office is a mess, no one tells him when it’s time to mow the WhiteHouse lawn.”
Brother For Sale from Brother For Sale. The older brother is always picking on his younger sisters. They come up with a scheme, “The next time he’s asleep in his room they’ll sneak in and tie him, take him out into the street and see if someone will buy him.” The price starts out at $.50, but when they get to the end of the song, the price is reduced to $.25.
I’m Still Me is a new audio release. “What do you see when you look at me? Just use your imagination, can you see me on the cover of a magazine? Like beautiful model that everyone sees. On the outside it’s just cool as can be, but on the inside, I’m Still Me.”
Fashion Jr. High a new audio release. 50’s style music where they sing about Jr. High, fashion, school, good grades and going down the hall is like a fashion show.
We’re Gonna Start Something New is a new audio release.”Check it out!” They sing about using your imagination and make a fashion statement. “Make your mark, stand out, it’s time for something different.”
It’s Not Me~ It’s You a new audio release. This song is being sung while the girls try on different fashions that actually are more suited for the other one.
This music is positive and fun. Young girls and preteen would enjoy this and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at how much I even enjoyed this.
Hint for the secret message: (password) June 13, but I bet you already knew that, right
