psimon's Full Review: Green Mountain Nantucket Blend Coffee K Cups (Pack...
I recently purchased a Keuring coffee maker (check my other reviews for my opinion of the Keurig coffee maker.) and to go with it I bought the 60 K-cup assortment pack from Green Mountain. In that pack were a variety of coffees, teas and hot chocolate. Some I like, some I don't, but that's why they call it a sampler pack... so you can learn what you want more of.
One of the coffees that I have really come to like a lot is the Green Mountain Nantucket Blend variety. Green Mountain's description is as follows " Easily our most complex blend.... Brings together four coffees - from three continents - roasted and blended to create a cup of exceptional character and distinctiveness." I have to agree. This coffee is REALLY GOOD. This blend is considered a medium roast, and I would have to agree. Medium is strong enough to be full bodied, but not so strong as it becomes bitter.
To me there are a few sensory characteristics that make a good cup of coffee. One involves the nose, the other, the mouth.
As to the nose:
When you first brew a cup of Nantucket Blend, there is a rich coffee aroma. Slightly sweet, but certainly a coffee aroma.. Smells like a very rich cup of joe. The aroma when you brew a cup of Nantucket Blend is very rich and slightly sweet. You wish you could taste the air. It smells like coffee is supposed to.
As to the mouth...
This is a complex brew. There are a variety of tastes in a sip of Nantucket Blend. There is an ever so slight sweet sensation, as well as a deep roast taste. There is a hint of berry flavor and chocolate as well, and the body of the beverage is excellent. In addition there is a smooth finish to it. There is no bitterness what so ever. A very smooth taste is left on your pallate.
Originally I had brewed this on the 8oz setting and it was good, but I tried it on the 6oz setting and it was great. I realized that the 8oz setting provided too weak a brew and actually harmed the density of the flavor. When brewed as a 6oz cup, this brew is superb.
You can buy Nantucket Blend in 12 packs in the grocery store, 18 pack in places like Bed, Bath and Beyond, and larger packs at places like Amazon as well as direct from Green Moutain.
This brew is not just a breakfast brew. Nantucket Blend is great in the morning as well as an afternoon pick-me-up and a good companion with dessert after dinner. My wife and I have added this to our top flavors of K-Cups for the Keurig. I highly recommend giving Nantucket Blend a try. I don't think you will be sorry.
