Pros: Lots of flavor; Energizes me.
Cons: Sometimes have problems brewing the cup.
I already had my K-cup picked out for the morning fiasco, but upon rising I found it was a rainy day and I really didn't feel like doing anything. My chore list was twice as long as usual so I swapped my K-cup out for a Revv Pulse. I think it is a delicious flavor and definitely one of my favorites.
This is how Green Mountain Coffee describes the coffee: "Nature's original energy drinkTM just got turbo charged. revv Pulse® boosts alertness without compromising on taste. Ginseng and Guarana are natural additions to revv's high-performance power."
The box didn't have any health recommendations or indication that the consumption should be limited. Ginseng and Guarana are stimulants containing caffeine and allegedly boosts mood and concentration. It is common for these two ingredients to be added to energy drinks. My body reacts very well to products with ginseng and guarana and this coffee is no exception. I have no more than one product a day, and only drink it occasionally because frankly not enough studies have been done on it. There is no indication of how much of the herbs are in the product. A person taking medicine (especially aspirin) may want to do further research before drinking this. Those who are not comfortable with the herbal additives of Revv Pulse with the green label may be more interested in Revv with the blue label because it seems to be the same coffee without the herbal additives.
I normally would have a Zipfizz for an energy boost. While coffee seems like it would be a good answer for an energy boost, it normally makes me a little more high strung in high doses. I was interested to find out what the added ginseng and guarana would do for my mood. It makes me run at a higher speed for sure. This is a great coffee before a workout but a poor choice before a long-winded meeting. I feel like I want to move, literally.
The coffee is Aarabic dark roast. It has a strong bold flavor, but I didn't taste any smoky earthy taste from the roasting. I didn't notice any alluring aroma from brewing, nor did it remind me of any other food other than coffee.
The individual K-cups are designed for use in a Keurig Coffee Brewer. To use, sit the K-cup in the assembly housing without removing the foil lid. Discard the used K-cup. I sometimes have trouble with the K-cup only making a shot of coffee and have to run it up to three times to get the amount of water in the cup. This makes the coffee strong in flavor and too strong for me as a smaller cup. This doesn't say "extra bold" on the foil like most K-cups do, but I think there's more than enough grounds. This can be pretty rough on the stomach so I normally have it with food.
Ingredients: 100% Arabic coffee with Guarana Seed Extract, Panax Ginseng Extract.
I am a huge fan of the Green Mountain Coffee brand so it's no surprise I liked this blend as well. I probably wouldn't recommend a Revv Pulse for someone that is going to sit in front of their computer; It's too much energy to contain. It's a perfect choice on a lazy rainy day when it's time to get moving and get things done.
