Pros:just the right blend of spices
Cons:none for us
The Bottom Line: Give McCormick Grill Mates Smokehouse Maple Seasoning a try, you may be pleasantly surprised like we were.
My grocery store had McCormick Grill Mates on sale that you bought one and you got one free. I love trying new spices so I picked one flavor of each flavor they had. One that I picked up but had never tried before was the McCormick Grill Mates Smokehouse Maple Seasoning.
The Smokehouse Maple Seasoning is recommended for chicken, pork and salmon. The first time we used it we put it on a pork loin and placed it in the smoker. The meat came out juicy and flavorful.
The bottle states to put one tablespoon of seasoning per pound of meat but we just shake it on, covering the meat. I have seen used the Smokehouse Maple Seasoning on chicken also. I love to take a whole chicken and cook it in the crockpot covered with this seasoning. We mainly use the seasoning and cook things on the grill or smoker but it does make a great crockpot chicken too.
The Smokehouse Maple Seasoning comes in a 3.5 ounce clear plastic body with a red cap. You can see all the different spices in the bottle. The red cap flips up and underneath is a lid with holes in it to sprinkle the spices on your meat. You can also take the lid off and measure it out if you like.
When I purchased the Smokehouse Maple Seasoning I was afraid it would be too sweet but it has just the right combination of flavors. It is neither too sweet nor too spicy. It has a great taste, a mild flavor and a smoky sweet smell to it.
Smokehouse Maple Seasoning doesn’t add any calories to your meals but does contain 115 mg of sodium. I love that it adds flavor to your meals without adding any extra calories.
The ingredients in Smokehouse Maple Seasoning are sugar, salt, brown sugar, spices, onion, garlic, maple syrup, red bell peppers, orange peel, paprika, safflower and sunflower oil, molasses, chili pepper, caramel color, natural smoke flavor, and natural flavor.
McCormick Grill Mates Smokehouse Maple Seasoning can be found at most grocery stores in the aisle with other cooking spices. The regular price for this seasoning is $2.69 at my grocery store. They were having a sale that you bought one, you got one free plus I had a coupon for $1/2. Each bottle of seasoning came out to be about $0.75. So it was well worth giving it a try. I have also seen the seasonings on sale for two dollars a bottle.
Fortunately we were pleasantly surprised with the taste of the Smokehouse Maple Seasoning. We have used it a few times and have yet to be disappointed. I have had the seasoning for about a month now and used it about four times and there is still a lot left in the container.
I think Smokehouse Maple Seasoning makes a great addition to anyone’s spice cabinet. Give it a try; it’s not overly sweet or spicy. It gives a nice flavor to chicken and pork (the only two meats we have tried it on).
If you are looking for a new spice to try or tired of the same old thing, give McCormick Grill Mates Smokehouse Maple Seasoning you may be pleasantly surprised like we were.
