Pros: PERFORMS, cheaper than prescription meds, easy to use
Cons: Need a separate eye makeup remover, sulfur mask can be an inconvenience to remember
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend the Proactiv System to anyone who would like to clear his/her skin. It's worth a try!

| shayna5858's Full Review: Guthy Renker Proactiv Solution System |
After moving to Philadelphia five years ago from South Jersey, the smog and water greatly affected my skin. I had mild acne, and tried Benzolyclin, Differin, Retin-A...you name it I tried it. It was always manageable, but when I decided to take a "break" from birth control pills, my skin freaked out. I developed deep cystic acne a week after I stopped the pills. My dermatologist told me that we could either try antibiotics (which I was opposed to) or try Accutane. My face HURT-I needed something strong.
I was on Accutane for about a month and it really dried me out and made my acne worse (which it's supposed to do). I wanted to continue with it, but due to insurance reasons I had to stop.
So......I saw the infomericals on Proactiv and thought, ya know what I'm going to give it a try. It's cheaper than prescription meds at this point and if it doesn't work I can send it back.
I bought the three piece system at a mall kiosk so I didn't have to worry about being charged and shipped a new kit automatically.
The face wash contains small granuales that feel like they're exfoliating and deep cleaning. The wash does not foam, and I am always very careful not to use the product around my eyes. Ladies-I would use a separate make up remover.
The next step is the toner. It has a very light scent (as do all the products in the 3 pc system). I always feel like I'm cleaning away anything the cleanser did not take care of. Depending on where you live, the water minerals/salts/chlorine levels will change-and when you use a toner I feel it rinses away any water residue.
The third step in the system is the repairing lotion. It contains panthenol, and leaves the skin feeling very soft. It absorbs almost immediately. It can be drying, though, so make sure to use an oil-free non comedogenic moisturizer after you use it.
I received a sulfur mask as a bonus product. The smell isn't that great, but it's not supposed to be. I don't use it as often as it says to (2-3x per week) but when I do use it, the acne seems to clear a little more. I believe the mask has anti-inflammatory properties, which would explain that.
Within 3 days my skin started clearing. All the comedones at the top of my face seemed to disappear. Within one week the only acne left was at the bottom of my jawline, where it was the worst. It's been 3 1/2 weeks and the acne has faded, I have no more deep cystic pimples, and my skin is looking better than ever. I cannot even believe that a product advertised on television could perform such a miracle. I would HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone who thinks there is nothing that will ever work for their skin.
