Pros: A speed demon for a great price
Cons: XP takes some getting used to. No recovery CD included.
The Bottom Line: Highly recommend due to ease of use, setup, all the goodies under the hood and the great price.

Looking to replace a Celeron computer I couldn't pass up this Athlon bargain. This is our 3rd HP computer in the past 2 years and all have been a joy to work with. Ease of setup was what I expected and what I got. I had the computer up and running within an hour. The internet hook up with my existing provider was a breeze. I can honestly say this is the first time I have been able to complete a hookup without calling customer service. The box contained everything - tower, keyboard, mouse, cables, speakers. A large fold out with install directions is included in two languages. The back of the Tower is clearly marked and color coded for ease in cable connections. RAM on this machine is 512MB and most others I was comparing price with had 256MB. Plenty of software is included to get started.
The only snag I ran into was getting the CD-RW to work but by using "HP HELP" included with the system, I had it working in about 20 minutes. This was mainly my fault as I had never worked with a CD-RW before and had to specify how I wanted the drive to handle files.
This system has plenty of USB ports and has expansion slots available (not a lot though). I felt for what we needed it for...It would be perfect and I am not disappointed. This computer is perfect for a beginner as well as someone who wants to use it for general office work. It does have a wonderful graphics card included for games as well. The only improvement I could hope for is Broadband but then that is not the computers fault.
Last note....I did choose an NEC monitor to go with this system. I felt the picture was clearer and it was about $200 less. No problem with system hookup on this.
I rated Customer Service based on experience with my other 2 machines over the last year. I did not have to call with this new one.
