Pros: Magazine and photo-processing quality prints!
Cons: You'd be foolish to expect it: black and white text is NOT laser quality
The Bottom Line: True photo quality prints, but don't expect to print your term papers on it!

| piyo's Full Review: Hewlett Packard DeskJet 970c InkJet Printer |
First, let me dispel all the myths about a photo-quality printer that also does laser-quality text. Stop dreaming! The day is not yet here. No inkjet or bubblejet can approach razor-sharp laser text, including the HP Deskjet 970cxi, which claims to. Although the text is not bad, it is undoubtedly "draft" quality even when the printing properties are set at "best." Acceptable for a casual note, but never for a resume or business correspondence.
That being said, I purchased this printer solely for photo-processing and obtained an additional laser printer for text. Therefore, I had no illusions shattered when I printed my first b/w text.
But when I printed my first color shot - WOW! And it dried almost instantly. You have to twiddle with your pictures' sharpness to approach a photo-processing look. If you sharpen less, you can approach a true magazine look on glossy paper - very cool. There is no doubt that this is photo quality in the definition of the term.
It's fairly quiet, although not whisper soft as one would wish. The paper tray is a bit clumsy to get to because the access is obstructed by the output tray.
The software that comes with the HP is very easy to use, and will adjust images to standard and custom photo sizes with ease. The HP paper is affordably available online.
