More than just Black and White

Working in the transportation field our office produces copy after copy of documents. With everything from government forms to simple email copies and even black and white maps from web sites this machine consistently produces fabulous copies.

Our office has been furnished a HP Laserjet 4000TN for a little over a year now and it has consistently out performed our older printers.

The Laserjet 4000TN has sharp crisp copies even from colored web pages making great use of the shading that is easy for the eye to discern without covering any information that many lower quality printers would leave illegible.

Being that we often produce reports generated within excel that may cover a multitude of pages we occasionally discover we have entered a discrepancy. This printer allows you to cancel the current print job without losing the other jobs waiting to be printed. This is particularly important since our printer is fed reports from as many as 6 or 7 members at the same time.

The printer rarely jams unless we are using less than standard quality paper and even with labels has out paced most of its competition. Averaging less than 1 jam in probably 200 sheets of labels and easily less than 1 jam in 1000 for regular laser quality paper jamming up is hardly a problem. Jams are easily cleared as well and are usually found to be at the paper feed from the paper holding trays.

With two paper feed trays we are able to load both legal and standard 8.5" x 11" paper without having to manually feed the printer. Special paper can also be loaded face down with the top of page towards the front for easy use as well. This is not required however since when using special paper, such as labels, they can be easily fed through the manual feed tray.

This Laserjet is quite fast printing 17 pages per minute at 1200x1200 dpi resolution. The crispness of your images will astound you for the speed. The toner cartridges seem to last quite some time too. Our office averages four months of printing on a single cartridge.

Once printed your pages are kept face down on the top of the printer in the output section. This area is large enough to easily handle 100 pages at a time making it easy to run a multitude of reports without having to run and collect your work after each print job. The pages are kept ordered and neat and I have never encountered a problem with the printing transferring to other pages.

The HP laserjet 4000TN is not a cheap printer with a cost of around $1350.00 but the performance is superb. This makes it a great choice for a busy office and a staff that doesn't like having to run to the printer after each print job.
