The bottom line
This is a decent laser printer which prints crisp, clear black text. It does not print very quickly, but does the job. Unfortunately, due to limitations in the paper feeding design, the printer is not user-friendly. The printer has a tendency to gobble up sheets of paper if you place more than one in the tray. I would not recommend purchasing this printer if you have a budget larger than $30.
Background
I purchased this printer secondhand about 3 years ago for $75. I was looking for a printer for printing papers, general applications forms, etc. Just a general use printer, but I did not want an ink-jet since I wanted the text to be as sharp as possible. Also, ink-jet printer paper has a tendency to smear when wet.
I had heard about the paper-feeding issues, so I asked the seller if she had ever encountered those problems. She looked me in the face and lied, saying she had never had a paper-feeding problem. I suppose I should have asked her to demonstrate-- oh well, caveat emptor! I believe you can purchase the printer for much less today, and it actually might make more sense to just run out and get a newer model.
I have been using the printer about once a week for the past 3 years. The toner cartridge, which was just replaced prior to my purchase, has lasted the entire time with no trouble. In addition, the printer is relatively quiet.
Trouble
The real problem with this printer is that you cannot place more than one sheet in the paper tray at a time. Meaning that in order to print anything at all, you must hover over the printer and feed it one page at a time. You can imagine what a pain it might be to print out anything longer than 3 pages. If you try to place more than one page in the paper tray, the printer will suck up ALL the paper, resulting in a paper jam.
The only other issue I have with the printer is that it is very easy to place the paper into the tray at a slight angle, which causes the text to print out crooked. It is only very slightly crooked, but if you are printing something like a resume, you probably want to print straight.
