I don't think I'll buy an HP printer again

Pros: Good document feeder.
Cons: Slow double sided function, random unfixable errors.
The Bottom Line: Look for other printers. This one isn't worth it.

We bought this printer after the HP 1170c we had died. (It only lasted about three years.) We bought this one because it had some neat features we liked that were missing on the 1170c.
We liked the document feeder, the ability to do double sided printing and copying, and we were intrigued with the color fax capability.
The document feeder works well. The double sided printing and copying is painfully slow. And try finding someone else with a color fax machine! This doesn't default back to B/W if the other machine isn't color - the fax job fails and you have to start over.
This one worked well for a few months then it started freaking out every so often. In the middle of a print job it would stop printing and all the lights would flash on an off, blinking like a Christmas tree. We'd have to turn the unit off then back on and try again with the print job.
When we called the Help(less) Desk, they recommended reinstalling the software, the "catch-all" fix when they don't know what to tell you to do.
We frequently get the error message "bad printhead - replace ink cartridge," even with a new cartridge installed.
