I needed a printer, scanner, fax, and copy machine. So I got it all in one unit. Lets talk about the features of this product.
- Printer -
Pros- Great quality, color is 2400 x 1200 on the max. Which gives great photo quality on premium glossy photo paper. Prints fast, I was surprised in the detail it produced with the speed generated.
Cons- Guzzles quite a bit for the extreme color photos. Be sure you have the correct photo selected, or edited to save your ink. Shakes when printing, not very stable so be sure it's on a sturdy table.
- Scanner -
Pros- You can definitely scan for high digital imaging. Up to 9600 dpi enhanced and up to 48 bit depth. In english that would be scanning in great quality that can zoom in to photos you have lying around seeing things you didn't know were there. I loved scanning old photos and seeing things in detail that was lost in the background.
Cons- You can't scan in the highest resolution allowed unless you have over 512 mb ram. It stores the image temporarily that it is scanning and reconverts it to jpg or tiff file type.
- Fax -
Pros- Just like any other fax and more. Can fax in color, receive and store up to 100 pages if you run out of paper. Speed dials up to 130 numbers. You can even have about 20 pages fed automatically. One thing I do love is the fax ring distinction. You can set it up to answer after 4 rings and it will know if it's a regular call or a fax. This way your answering machine can still recieve those important calls and record the message.
Cons- Keep the unit turned on since it takes a couple of minutes to boot up and heat the lamps. Even if you leave it on all day, it has a sleep mode option so it won't stay lit all night.
- Copier -
Pros- Can copy up to 18 pages per minute in black ink, and 16 in color. You can reduce up to 25% and enlarge up to 400%. What I love about the copier is the fit to page option. You can have a long 8 x 13 page and it will reduce it automatically to fit on a legal page. Quality is just as great as if it was scanned with the highest resolution.
Cons- Can't think of any.
There you have it, take it or leave it. I thought this product was a good deal, a little on the expensive side but it will last for a long time. If you have windows xp don't worry, that's what I'm using and I haven't had one problem. Well, good luck with your decision. I hope I have been helpful.
