| i8myyoung's Full Review: Hewlett Packard Photosmart 720 Digital Camera |
I went out and spent $500 dollars on the HP 850 and had problems in battery life, color accuracy of picture and focus. I took it back and got the HP 720 for only $269. It will run on 4 AA rechargeable batteries for a Long time. It downloads the pictures fast via USB cable provided, it also will hook up via video cable to your VCR or TV. One more thing I will be buying is the camera dock for $70 that runs your camera on AC power and is hooked right up to your computer. Now lets talk picture quality. I was a little skeptical about this camera because its so easy to point and shoot and I normally do all manual camera settings for the best pictures with other cameras. This thing rocks without me adjusting anything and I know because I teach Video Production in the military. It sets the focus then you frame and it has not failed me yet. It handled well in fluorescent lights without the green tint that you normally get. Outdoors I used it with fill in flash while taking a very dark skin mans picture, it was a great picture. The colors are rich and true in every type of light. This camera is solid like a brick that some people seem to hate because its a little heavier and thicker than most. I say to hell with little cheap light cameras. They are easily broken and feel cheap I bought the HP because of the solid construction. Its rubber grip around the body of the camera feels good and very secure. If you do not believe me listen to what PC World said about it when they rated it #5 in the top ten camera's under $500. Now the cons. It has no little focus light like Sony that helps you take pictures in the dark. If you are buying this camera for night photography you better bring a pen light so you can focus. The next thing is the video mode is only 30 seconds. It does have sound but I think a minute would have been better for most people. In my Epinions rating I was a little confused on the battery life section. It rates excellent as over 300 exposures and I do not know of any digital camera that can pull that off. I tried 4 different camera's before buying this camera, and none of them had battery life like the HP 720. These cons would not make me not want this camera.
My bottom line on this camera is with this camera anyone could take a quality picture with it because it seems to self compensate for all conditions. I wanted a more expensive more manual camera, but this thing worked so well I did not end up finding another camera that pleased me like it.
