We ended up with this turtle as a fluke. Someone had found him as a baby, and the kids had lost their interest in him. Plus, he was in a tiny little plastic hex tank.

Our painted turtle is really friendly (follows you along the tank), but other than that there's no real interaction. He's a riot to watch tho!

...a turtle and the six-year-old has been promised a bird. I'm learning a lot about both since I've been back at Epinions. I'll have to keep you in mind before I make my turtle purchase.
