kbolton72's Full Review: Haier HPRB07XC7 Portable Air Conditioner
Thank heavens for Central Air! Now that I am a Florida resident, and live in a top floor, tight-spaced apartment, the air is as cool as can be, and I no longer use this product, it is in storage. However, back in Michigan, in a home that had energy escapes in every nook and cranny, I could not keep the home cool, even with two powerful window air conditioners. So, I invested in my last chance, the Haier HPRB07XC7 Portable Air Conditioner.
I was always worried about my kids' rooms, which seemed to be hotter than the other rooms so I placed this in the hallway, with their personal floor fans bringing the soft cold 7,000 BTUS in, or I would pick it up and place it in their rooms for an hour or so to drop the temperature. Weighing in at 62 lbs, it is not always easy, but worth it! It is on the small, compact size of most models, making it easy to be portable.
This is great for bringing out to a garage or other work place, an office that doesn't have much air. It has three cooling and three fan settings for your personal comfort. There is also a wonderful feature of dehumidifying and the water evaporates to allow you to not have to change it. My husband and son both suffer from allergies, and our home was full of allergy agitators, so this machine worked like an ION machine keeping the air clean and free of pollutants.
It has a fun remote control, a window exhaust kit and it is easy to set up and use within minutes of opening the box. It is 18" W X 14" D X 24" H. It is attractive, has a one year parts and a five year labor warranty. The last time I checked, mine is still working, and has worked well when I needed it last summer. The filter is easy to change, and lasts for a good few months depending on how dusty your air is.
The wind flow is powerful and cold with 115 volts pushing the 7,000 BTUs. The air comes out in the front, and it is a silver color that matches well in a modern looking decor. It has a thermostat and 24 hour on and off timer. It covers 200 square feet which is the size of the average living room or kitchen.
This is *not* better than central air, but if you have to have anything less than that, this is the next best thing! It does a great job!
