We purchased this at Wal*Mart last week. After trying several times to get it to work properly, we have decided to take it back for a refund. The problem is that the toasting is done with two round heating elements placed mid-way between the top and bottom of the bread. Therefore, the toasted part is a horizontal stripe in the middle of the bread with the top and bottom being toasted much less. If you get the toast the way you want it on the top and bottom of the slice, it is burned in the middle. You can look through the glass window of the oven part and see how the toast is progressing, but there is no way to cancel the toasting without pulling up hard on the lever that you push down to start the toasting process. When you do pull hard enough and the lever releases, the toast pops up about a foot to eighteen inches in the air.
I'll admit, it looks great sitting on the counter, but it is useless for making toast, which is why we wanted it.
