We decided to get a dedicated toaster since we were using our toaster oven for it so much and were willing to spend more for something good.

The price was about right($50) so I went with this model since it had four slices and a bagel option. I've had it for close to a year now and here's what I found. On toasting bagels, I ignore the bagel button since it takes longer to toast just one side(I guess not as much heat is generated in the compartment). Nonetheless, usually the top of the bagel slice is not toasted while the rest is.
Similar outcomes for bread, sadly, but in a different way. You have to adjust the timer for dry vs moist bread, which is normal, but most of the time the bread is not completely evenly toasted! Looking down inside, I noticed some of the elements do not ever get red hot and some do, which would give a somewhat uneven finish.
Once in a while we like to make home made bread and I was interested to see how it would handle this. It again only has so-so outcomes, on white or whole wheat, and sometimes the top would be under toasted. Overall, it hasn't been a great purchase.
The toaster itself is a nice looking design with well thought out buttons and levers. It's a stainless steel model and has that classic look. In addition to the previously mentioned bagel option, it also has a reheat and a defrost button, and it's always good to have more options. Also, the crumb tray works well, one for each side, but if you really want to empty the toaster of crumbs completely, you're going to want to turn it upside down over the sink, which I've done only a couple of times.
On the whole, I wanted to like this toaster, but the one thing you get a toaster for, to make toast, it only does moderately well.
