Hamilton Beach 6 cup Brew Station 48274:
The Cuisinart has died, long live the Cuisinart. We loved it so but there was just no time to grieve.
If I don't have my morning coffee no one gets out alive, so the Hamilton Beach was purchased. It was to be a temporary coffee maker until we found a permanent one and after that serve as a back up. Unfortunately this coffee maker is worthless to serve either function.
The construction alone makes it impossible, it is so flimsy I doubt it would last until the permanent coffee maker was found.
If it did it still has an issue that is common with many other coffee makers: the 6 cup capacity translates into 3 to 4 normal sized cups. This is just swell unless of course you enjoy drinking from a thimble.
Forget about dispensing these cups single handed though, as the unit is so light weight the other hand is needed to hold onto the unit to keep it from moving across the counter.
If that is not an issue for you then you'll need to get out your oven mitt. The outside of the unit becomes entirely too hot. I can not say the same for the coffee though, so after brewing into the microwave it went.
The unit measures about 6 1/4" across and about 9 1/2" from back to front. A relativley small footprint until you equate the sliding while dispenisng.
The Hamilton Beach BrewStation does come with a digital, programmable clock with an automatic 2 hour shut off. I wasn't interested in that feature so I didn't try to program it and so can not comment on that aspect. 2 hours though does seem too large a window for a product that gets that hot.
