Excellent blender but you can't put it in dishwasher

We got this blender to replace a Back to Basics blender that was 700 watts we had used for 3 or 4 years at least once a day for protein shakes. It blends just as well as the Back to Basics blender did in it prime. It handles ice, frozen strawberries, and pretty much anything you can think of easily. The spout is a nice feature if you use it but its just as easy for us to just pour our shakes and smoothies right out of the top.
The main problem I have with this blender is that it isn't dishwasher safe and will melt if you try and wash it in the dishwasher. I found this out the hard way and had to return it and get a new one. I think its ridiculous to have to hand wash a blender every time you use it. This fact alone takes a great blender and makes it a pain to use.
