Pros:Looks sharp; easy to use, makes great coffee, keeps the coffee hot without burning it.
Cons:Unable to monitor the water level while the coffee is brewed.
The Bottom Line: I will gladly recommend this coffee maker to others; it's a great product at a great price.
I received this coffee maker as a Christmas gift from my wife and I am thoroughly impressed. It is easy to use, looks sharp, and makes great coffee. The unit has a thermos carafe` which is one of the reasons I asked for a coffee maker like this one; it prevents the coffee from burning. After making my first pot I used just one third of the pot. Much later in the day, 9 hours or so, I offered my visiting in-laws a cup of coffee. After that much time I assumed that I would reheat the coffee in the micro-wave oven, but to my surprise the coffee was steaming when I poured it out! My mother in-law wanted the details of the unit and where to buy it for their own use. The cost of this unit was less than half of the price of comparable models found at the mall; around $60 at Wal-Mart compared to other units at the mall priced over $120. The unit has an illuminated digital clock and can be set to brew your coffee at a later time. It comes with two travel mugs that are effective in keeping the coffee hot as well. If you are interested in brewing just one or two travel mugs at one time the unit can be configured to do just that, brewing the coffee straight into one or both mugs. I will recommend this unit to who ever asks about it and will look to see what Hamilton Beach is offering when it's time to replace this one. The only draw back it has, is that you are unable to monitor the water level while the coffee is brewed.
