Sure its more expensive than the Visor Deluxe, but the added speed is a welcome improvement and is well worth the price. The one thing that kept me away from the Palm Pilot is the need to pull it apart to make any upgrades, but I have always preferred the Palm OS to the windows based OS used by most other PDA makers. The Visor is the perfect PDA now since it has the Springboard modules that fit into the Visor - much like the little gameboy cartridges... way cool. And unlike many of the other PDA manufacturers, the Visor has a pretty comprehensive product line, from the basic Visor up to the new colour display Visor Prism. You know that this is not just a "one-off" product. Visor is here to stay, so that means enhancements, upgrades, and supporting products as well (ie: cell phone module, GPS module, etc.) This was especially important to me since I didn't want to pay so much for something and then have it become outdated and un-upgradable. And since it uses the ever-popular Palm OS it has a plethora of programs and utilities that are available for you to install. The software is great... very reliable, and the transfer rates between the Visor and my computer are respectable as well.
I like the new Sony Clie as well because I like their little memory sticks and it has a slick design... but it may be a one-off with little support and little outside interest for upgrades. It's too bad.
Speaking of design, the Visor Platinum has a really cool trendy yet elegant colour and overall design... which is a perfect blend of form and function. I love it. It matches my Samsung SCH 3500 phone... which incidentally I have reviewed as well (check it out).
