Pros: TASTE is beyond comparison. Excellent flavor. Diet options with Splenda. Real extracts.
Cons: NONE other than they may be difficult to find certain flavors.
I remember drinking Hansen's sodas or they were called "Hansen's natural sodas" back when I was a kid (over 20 years ago). They sold it at the local grocery store I lived at in Washington State. I think my mom would buy them for us because they were called "natural" and that was appealing. We weren't really allowed to have anything sugary or snacks, chips, desserts or anything of that nature in our house. But these "natural" sodas were okay once in awhile. They were more expensive then the average six pack of pop, but nowadays they compare to other soda six packs (like Diet Pepsi or Mountain Dew).
I remember drinking their Ginger Ale, which I loved. It was like no other Ginger Ale. My mother would use this to cure (okay settle) our stomachs when we had the flu or upset stomachs from being sick. It usually helped (being that it had REAL ginger in it, I could see why it would help!). Ingredients in the natural ginger ale: Pure triple filtered carbonated water, cane sugar, citric acid, natural flavors with extracts of Madagascan, Indonesian or Indian vanilla, natural citrus flavors, extracts of ginger, caramel color. And nutritional facts: Calories 170, Total Fat 0g, Sodium 0mg, Total Carb 44g, Sugars 44g. Nowadays, I just couldn't drink a "regular" pop like this, it's too high in sugar for me. But as a kid, it was alright. Of course NOW they have the Diet versions (so yeah for me!).
In their natural soda pops they offer these flavors:
Key Lime Twist (I love tart!)
Cherry Vanilla Creme (Can you say YUM!)
Grapefruit (I remember having this flavor as a kid too, it's very good!)
Kiwi Strawberry (always a good one)
Creamy Rootbeer (they have the BONAFIED best rootbeer of any company in my opinion).
Mango Orange (Yum!)
And new (to me) Pomegranate
As you can see...Hansens offers amazing-flavored sodas or as they call them "alternative" sodas. The flavors are TO-DIE-FOR. They are worth the $1.99 I pay for them at the store (Trader Joe's or Fred Meyer). At Fred Meyer, they carry the Hansen's brand pops or juices in the organic (alternative) food aisles and I think that's great because I wouldn't even associate this with regular junk pop in the soda pop aisle. These feel way too "luxurious" and "rich" tasting in my opinion. Far better than say flavored soda water (more flavorful). When you open a can, you cannot stop, you must GUZZLE! I find most of them to be creamy, except the kiwi strawberry. Very tasty. The fruit ones are VERY fruity and real tasting.
Now onto their Diet line, they offer them in:
Diet Black Cherry (An awesome dark cherry flavor and very bubbly)
Diet Peach (I have not tried this, I have not seen this offered at the stores I shop at)
Diet Kiwi Strawberry (a great staple, very fruity)
Diet Tangerine Lime (Better than say 7-Up or Fresca)
Diet Ginger Ale (one of the best ginger ales)
Diet Rootbeer Natural (TO DIE FOR! So creamy and licorice tasting)
Diet Pomegranate (brand new, and just tried this and it's a huge hit with my family!)
Here's the difference (which is great for anyone with blood sugar issues or watching their sugar intake for any given reason):
They have ZERO calories, ZERO carbohydrates, ZERO sodium, and 0 everything!
Example Ingredients for the Rootbeer: Pure triple filtered carbonated water, caramel color, potassium citrate, phosphoric acid, sucralose (Splenda brand), acesulfame potassium, natural flavors (licorice root extracts, Madagascan vanilla, wintergreen anse), and acacia.
Okay I feel GREAT about these diet pops that I consume. I am more for Splenda than I am Aspartame (which is in most sodas like Diet Pepsi or Diet Coke, etc.) because of health reasons and taste. I like that they put natural flavors in it: real licorice extract and vanilla which makes it creamy tasting. They also triple filter their water, wow. I think they make amazing soda; other companies should see how it SHOULD be done! Now Hansen's company has been around for MANY, MANY years and I think they will be here for many to come!
I HIGHLY reccommend these sodas either in the regular or Diet but watch out: you may get addicted to the flavor! See their website for any other information or products that you want to find out more about at www.hansens.com
Your store doesn't carry it? Most grocery stores have websites that you can go to and "suggest" new products. This is one to suggest!
