Pros:Inexpensive, easy to apply, flattering shade, opaque, wear with or without gloss
Cons:Wears off fast, doesn't hydrate lips, hard to find
The Bottom Line: Hard Candy Lip Velour Lipstick in Touchy Feely is a flattering muted opaque mauve shade. Wear time is short, very little shine. No hydration but not drying either.
WalMart carries a whole line of Hard Candy cosmetics and I recently bought several items, some of which were deeply discounted. One of the sale items I picked up was Hard Candy Lip Velour Lipstick in Touchy Feely. This lipstick is actually a lip gloss without the shine. It's opaque and quite flattering although it wears off quickly.
About the Product
Hard Candy Lip Velour Lipstick in the shade Touchy Feely. This is Hard Candy's sophisticated, must-have color collection infused with a fun, youthful spirit. Velour is all about sumptuous beauty. Smooth, soft, subtly sexy colors are equal parts guts and girlishness. This high-tech lip texture is silicone based so it glides on smoothly, leaving lips with a modern semi-matte-but surprisingly featherweight-finish. The shades are rich in color, apply thin, and are designed to flatter any complexion. Touchy Feely is a mauve putty shade.
Manufacturer's Info
Packaging
Hard Candy Lip Velour Lipstick in Touchy Feely comes in a pretty pink and white box. The product is in a fat tube similar to a lip gloss tube. There is .27 ounce of product in it. The tube is clear plastic with a white screw off top. The color Touchy Feely is mauve but a muted mauve. It's like a deep pink with a dash of plum. It's a very flattering shade on me. The lipstick has a sweet smell and slight sweet taste.
My Experience
I bought a number of Hard Candy products, many of which were marked down. I think this one is being discontinued as I can't seem to find it anywhere on the net but at a few outlet stores and eBay.
Hard Candy Lip Velour Lipstick isn't really a lipstick in my mind. It applies like a gloss but is richer in color. It is opaque and doesn't have a lot of shine. There is a little bit but nothing like actual gloss gives. The color glides on nicely to my lips and smells sweet. A flick of my tongue tells me it also has a slight sweet taste. The formula isn't sticky and doesn't leave a film on my lips.
Touchy Feely is a universally flattering shade. It's not exactly neutral but it's a combination of pink, rose, and plum with a hint of nude. The color is demure and can be worn casually or at night but when I do that, I apply a shiny clear gloss over the color.
Wear time is short as expected. I can get an almost an hour's worth of wear from this lipstick if I don't eat or drink. After that, it begins to fade away and is gone quickly. It's completely gone after an hour no matter what I do - or don't do. It doesn't lave behind a tint or any patchiness.
My lips are dry and Hard Candy Lip Velour Lipstick doesn't make them drier although I wouldn't say it's hydrating. My lips feel no more or less hydrated than without the product on them. When it wears away, my lips feel the same as always which is generally fairy dry.
When wearing the lipstick with gloss over it, the shine is high and I feel the color is more flattering. Gloss doesn't extend the wear time but it adds another layer of protection to my lips and turns up the shine. During the day for casual wear, a coat of Touchy Feely alone is just enough to give my lips a little color without looking too 'done".
I like but don't love this product. The shade is nice but the wear time is not great and the lack of shine, for me, is kind of a turn off. I guess I can't feel like a product is a lipstick when it comes in a lip gloss tube. I definitely will wear this but I won't be too upset if it's no longer available. Hard Candy has some other lip products that I like better.
Buying Info
WalMart sells an extensive array of Hard Candy cosmetics as does their website. You can purchase Hard Candy Lip Velour Lipstick in Touchy Feely on the net at various outlet stores, Amazon, and eBay. The cost varies but is around $4.99 - $5.99. I paid $2.25 for my tube which is definitely a steal.
The Verdict
I like the shade Touchy Feely but the formula of Hard Candy Lip Velour Lipstick lacks shine and wears off quite fast. It isn't different from many other lipsticks in that way though. I wish it added some hydration to my lips. I need it and many lip products give that to me. I don't feel this one does. Still, for the low price, it's a flattering semi-matte shade that works for day and night. I am going with 3 stars but will recommend it if you can find it.
