| SanguinMoon's Full Review: Hard Rock Hotel |
I stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal in Orlando this past Halloween. I wasn't on vacation, or business travel. I actually heard about an event that the hotel puts on once every month called "Velvet Sessions". The hotel was relatively easy to find, conveniently located next to Universal Orlando, yet just a short distance from all of the glory that is Disney & vicinity. It's a great location right next to Universal Studio's and Islands of adventure. Wet 'n Wild water park & International Drive are both close by as well. Parking was ample & finding where I needed to go check in wasn't a problem. I found the staff to be very helpful, not to mention kind, and attentive. As I mentioned earlier, I was actually at the hotel for that month's "Velvet Session" it was my personal Hero Dee Snider of Twisted Sister fame. He was to perform that night in front of a crowd of over 1000 people. In order to attend the Velvet Session for any month, you must call up/contact the hotel & say you would like to go, chances are that you'll get in. I paid $20 for the show on top of the regular hotel fee for the room, but it was a completely separate event. However, it was well worth the money. The event was catered, and the food was absolutely sensational, I had so many pieces of this oriental chicken dish, I can't even tell you. I don't eat seafood, but my friend who was with me told me that the shrimp & lobster was really great as well. They also had an open bar, and gave out Hard rock glasses. The drinks were all good, with the option of soda ie: non-alcoholic to liquor or beer. I think it's exciting to stay at a hotel that is involved with bringing in this kind of atmosphere. There's a very "alive" feeling about it. Everywhere you go, there's something to look at, something to listen to. On every floor from the lobby upwards, they have rock music piped through, which I absolutely loved, even underwater when you're in the pool, which also has a nearby hot tub, sand beach & waterslide. There are 5 restaurants at the hotel & benefits of staying there around Universal. 1. Complimentary on-site transportation via water taxi or shuttle bus. 2. Priority seating at "some" Universal Orlando restaurants. 3. You can use your room key card as a credit card around Universal to charge things to your room (This came in very handy, but don't get carried away, you're staying paying for it.) 4. Your room key can also get you out of a lot of long lines at the attractions nearby. (Talk about V.I.P treatment.) There's a slew of rooms featured at the hotel, from "kids rooms" Decorated to appeal to a younger crowd, with a king size bed and two twin beds. to the "hospitality suite, which has an entertainment area, and attached office. to the clubrooms that are on the 7th floor. These rooms have a separate lounge w/continental breakfast & evening hors d'oeuvres, beer and wine with unlimited access to the gym. The Hard rock hotel at Universal is as functional as it is beautiful. I had one of the best times of my life the night I stayed there. There's always a reason to look into staying at this hotel, from events to luxury to convenience it's a great hotel albeit a bit pricey, but still highly recommended in my opinion.
