Harley Davidson Tallboy Seat for Touring Models 52099-09A
I got my 2012 Electra Glide Ultra Limited on December 3, 2011. That model, designated the FLHTK in Harley-speak is the top of the line touring model and I really appreciated the extra features like the ABS braking system and 103 cubic inch engine with ESPFI, Cruise Control, and special two tone paint and polished and chrome plated styled mag wheels. The only thing I needed to change was the seat as it had the hump in just the wrong spot making me scrunch up a couple inches forward of where I was comfortable in my usual seating position.
I checked the accessories section out and found the Tallboy seat, a bolt on replacement for the standard seat for ’08 and later Touring models. There is also a Tallboy seat for older Touring models. The Tallboy seat is designed to give two inches additional leg room for riders with long legs like me. I swapped out the seat removing a single screw and also removed the grab strap as I have the tour pack with passenger back rest so the grab strap is not necessary. Also the rear bag guards provide a solid handhold if the passenger requires one.
The Tallboy made a big difference in the seating comfort and allowed me to seat myself naturally with better positioning for my feet and legs. I’ve been using the seat for a while now and it makes a big difference in the feel of the bike hence the rider control of the bike is better. If you need a bit more leg room on your Harley the Tallboy seat can give it to you. I’m glad I got mine.
Model 52099-09A fits ’08 and later Touring and Trike Models with a few restrictions as to other accessories that will work with the extended seating. Complete instructions come packaged with the seat and simple hand tools are all you need to change seats on your Harley. I paid $299.95 for mine at Stone Mountain Harley Davidson, Conyers GA.
