I first heard these speakers at an Apple store and was amazed at the sound this little package threw off. So when I finally made a decision to buy a computer (a Dell), I really wanted to get these.
I have been fairly satisfied with them at home. I don't think they sound quite as good as the ones I heard in-store, but I believe some of that has to do with my setup. I have the two satellite speakers sitting on top of my desk, which is all glass, and may not be as conducive to good acoustics as wood may be.
My only real issue with the speakers is that the on/off switch is on the back of the subwoofer. I believe since the design of the system is to save space, that most people will put the subwoofer on the floor, and leave only the satellites on their desk. In my case, I have it on the floor, under my desk. Therefore, every time I wish to turn the speakers on or off, I have to reach under the desk and flip the switch. It would have been much easier had they just integrated it into one of the satellites. Anyhow, it may not be a big issue for you, but I am a big believer in ergonomics, so perhaps Harmon Kardon will do something about this in the future.
Happy listening!
