laura10801's Full Review: Harney And Sons Fine Teas Hot Cinnamon Spice 50 Te...
I love tea. Tea is the elixir of the gods as far as I'm concerned. Generally speaking I prefer black teas, as opposed to Oolongs or Green Teas or (heaven forbid!) herbal teas. Give me a nice cup of black tea with a little splenda and milk, and I'm a happy camper. I'm also not a huge fan of flavored teas, although I don't have a strong aversion to them either. The exception to this is Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea by Harney and Sons.
You can get this product as loose tea, and it is delicious. You can get fancy schmancy tins of "saches," and it is delicious. I generally buy a nice big box of 50 teabags because this tea doesn't appear to suffer from the indignity of being steeped in a regular, old, convenient teabag. I also like the fact that each bag is individually wrapped in a foil bag to protect the flavor. It has a rich, assertive flavor, but it is not pushy or aggressive. Smooth is the word for the flavor of this tea.
Brew it with freshly drawn boiling water and let it sit for 3-5 minutes. You can smell the cinnamon as well as hints of other spices gently rising in the air. As I said, I take my tea with milk and sweetener, this is a tea that really doesn't need either addition, but it is flavorful enough to be enhanced and not overwhelmed by these additions. Occasionally I add half and half and it is no longer just a cup of tea, it is dessert!
Here is what Amazon.com has to say about this tea: "Harney & Sons most popular flavored tea !! Three types of cinnamon are hand-blended into a delightful Asian black tea and accented with a hint of orange. The result is remarkably assertive tea. Harney & Sons is proud to introduce new 50ct boxes of teabags. The foil-wrapped envelopes provide superior flavor protection as opposed to a paper-wrapped teabag. About Harney & Sons It started more than 30 years ago, when American tea was a poor commodity drunk only as teabags. John Harney's hobby of blending teas blossomed from pastime to passion, and Harney & Sons Teas was born. Johns goal was simple: to offer the finest teas at an everyday price, making tea an everyday luxury. Today John Harney and his sons Michael and Paul search the tea gardens of the world to bring their customers the cream of the crop. Their delicious blends and commitment to the quality and consistency - have made Harney & Sons a top name in tea providers... Personally sourced and professionally blended, they meet the highest standards of taste and aroma. From the tea garden to the tea cup, Harney & Sons is the best source for fine teas."
Geez, that's a whole history lesson there, isn't it? I included it because as you sip a cup of history... I mean Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea, you can imagine someone has gone to a lot of trouble to blend and produce this pleasure for you.
I have shopped around to get the best price on this product and the best I can find is on Amazon.com at $9. The Harney and Sons website charges a tiny bit more than Amazon, so you might as well click the link provided by Epinions and save yourself a few pennies.
