Before proceeding, if you are under 21 in the United States, you know the rules. Be responsible and please follow them.
Let's just say that I've done a bit of research on this before stating my epinion.
I treat most things in my life pretty seriously. Beer drinking is one of those events. Choosing a beer is like choosing who to go out with. A good date doesn't come by cheap and easy, unless that's what you're looking for. And if that's what you're looking for in a beer, then when you're done doing the dishes at home tonight, save the water, bottle it up and go have a good time.
Harps is a good date. It's a dark bottle, it's sleek, but its a lager and you know it won't be filling enough to make you lazy, and it won't pack the punch that makes you incoherent. It has a tasteful label an easy name and Irish. It's nice and easy from the outset and that makes it a good beer to begin an evening. It's a good first date with good beer.
The flavor of the beer is best described as having a toasty hops taste to it. It's a golden color and it has texture which I like to have in a beer if I'm also going to be eating. It's served in Irish bars, but not always at your local honky-tonk. In Manhattan, I think I've paid between 4.50 and 6.00 dollars per bottle. They also sell it at Trader Joes up in Westchester County by the Six Pack, and I have occasionally seen it in the bodegas next to the Guiness. It's a good summer beer because it's got a light flavor, but it is not watery by any means. I usually use it as a warm-up if I'm going to be out for a while. It's flavorful and usually has a good head on it.
