Real Men Love Harps…
In the pantheon of great import beers, Guinness and Bass come to mind, Harp is one of the less appreciated but still worthy members. With a gorgeous golden color, hops flavor and smooth body, it has everything that I look for in a premium beer. Just one sip, and you'll want to learn to play the Harp too…
Tasting Notes
With the color of burnished gold and the tangy aroma of hops, Harp Lager is Guinness Stout's smoother brother. When you pour it into a finely frosted mug you will be treated to a rich and lush head, a subtle off-white that complements its deep amber body. This hops-laden beer is hands-down one of Ireland's best exports, and only one sip will tell you why. This is real beer flavor, strong without being overpowering or clingy. It has a crisp and refreshing taste all the way down, there's no unpleasant aftertaste here. One of the beer's advantages over other Irish brews is that Harp begs to be served cold, making it a superior summer choice.
Serving Notes
Harp Lager in incredibly smooth, and its flavor is delicious but somewhat neutral. What I mean by that is it seems to complement and enjoy any food you can think to serve it with, it's taste just refuses to fight the food. This makes Harp the perfect drink for an outdoor barbecue, a day watching the game with the guys or a night on the town. Wherever you are and whatever you're doing, there's no excuse not to have a Harp with you.
Pricing & Availability
The best place to find it is at one of the finer liquor stores or at an Irish pub, where you can have the extra pleasure of having it on draft, an almost religious experience. As for price, it is a premium beer and is priced as such. Like I've always said, you get what you pay for with booze, so cough it up!
The Final Verdict
This simple truth is, any true beer lover has a moral obligation to try the often-unappreciated flavor of Harp. Though it can be difficult to find and expensive to buy here in the States, it' the perfect way every once in awhile to show your tastebuds that you love them...they'll thank you for it!
